Seriously, though. My husband would be in charge of taking the spider FAR FAR away and releasing it. And maybe we would see if it is poisonous. And if it is, kill it. Sorry, habitat.

I'd do a combo of B and C. I'd kill it on the spot. Ain't nobody got time to ensure it doesn't run off when you lift up the box, and carry it outside! Plus, it'll probably just return if I release it. No thanks. I'm squishing that sucker flat, right then and there! Or if it's as big as @snowjewelz: portrays it, I'd lift the box and spray it with some kind of killer till it shrivels up and dies then into the toilet it goes.

*shiver* Normally I have my cat kill spiders. Something that big I wouldn't want her to mess with. I would probably have to lock her away in another room and then I'd kill it with bug spray. I hate squishing bugs. It makes my skin crawl. If I don't have any raid Clorox Clean Up also works. It's probably mean... but I can't stand spiders and neither can DH. There's no way either of us would be brave enough to capture and release it.

@Alivoo01: I have been known to kill insects with whatever aresol spray I can reach...windex...hairspray...toilet cleaner...

When I was growing up, there were tarantulas....my mom would kill them with a shovel.

The shovel method always worked fine except the one time my mom busted an egg sack on the taratula's leg, and hundreds of tiny tarantulas started scurrying in every direction.....#spiderkillingfail

have someone else kill it. There was a spider hanging out at our garage door (detached one, by the side entrance). It grossed me out so much. The first frost was the best for killing it off. We're going to spray the hell out of the garage come spring/summer like the previous owners did.

I voted A, we generally release them... but we don't have giant spiders so I guess I can't really say for sure! I don't kill anything, so I'd let DH decide how he wants to handle it lol

My friend from Australia use to say her mom would vacuum tarantulas. But how do you ensure its dead that way?! BLEH.

I had DH vacuum a big spider this fall. He saw it in the canister (it didn't get stuck somewhere in the hose) then dumped it in the garbage.

Get DH, babies and pets out of the house and burn the house down! So F.

In all reality, DH would freak out. I would hide in the bathroom and DH would swat at it with his shoe. My cocker spaniel might go after it (this has happened before and we had to swat at his mouth to get him to drop the spider... all while we are all freaking out.) My shar pei would watch with popcorn as we all freak out.

@mrbee: HOLY S*** THAT THING WOULD DIE. Seriously, it looks like it could cart me off. So I would kill it and then immediately move.

Hahaha OMG yuck....I saw spiders like this in HK when we went hiking, but thankfully not usually in city apartments! I would never have attempted to kill it...a friend tried to smash one like that with a shoe while we were traveling in Malaysia, and it literally REARED UP at him like it was going to attack as soon as he lifted the shoe.

I have done (c) with a gigantic tropical cockroach (about the size of my thumb). I trapped it under a glass, and put a book on top for good measure (in case it tried to tip the glass over or something). I intended to make DH take care of it, but it died before either of us got the courage to do something about it!

We lived in the desert for a year and got all manner of enormous bugs in our house! With spiders I tried my best to catch and toss outside. But definitely had to kill a few that were climbing walls
