If you are in a parenting FB group or list-serv (like for your neighborhood or city for example), do you love it or sort of hate it? what is the most random, odd or funny post you've seen?

I'm in one and I have to say it's mostly annoying! Annoying and predictable, but helpful once in awhile. The most random thing I've seen was when a girl posted that her husband was hiring and that the ideal candidate for this job would be a young man. Boy did she get a screenful. First runner up was someone selling knockoff handbags. She deleted her message pretty quickly after a few comments!

I'm in a couple FB groups, and I like one more than another. The one I don't like as much is VERY attachment parenting/gentle parenting and they don't deal well with people who don't agree with everything they say.

I am in several local groups. One is very crunchy and I like it because the moms are more articulate than the moms in the other groups but I do feel like an imposter sometimes because we supplemented with formula, CIO, etc.
I was recently added to a local group that is a lot more chatty - not as much asking about local story times, feeding questions, etc. and I find the constant posts annoying. I need to just hide the group.

I'm in several groups online (some of which are local so I know these people IRL) but the one with the most potential drama is my towns parenting listserv-- generally it's just people selling stuff but sometimes a parent will post a random rant--about a local business or daycare or school or driver-- and the whole board will blow up with drama because this listserv has half the town on it, so chances are high that the business owner/supporter will read and start firing back. It's entertaining.

@avivoca: haha that reminds me of one I dropped out of! "PP! The OP is looking for NON-PUNITIVE DISCIPLINE OPTIONS! Humph!" LOL it almost seemed like a parody to me at one point....

I'm in one and the women are kind of insufferable! Sometimes there's good info but sometimes, OMG

We are on a community listserv that we love and is so helpful. But people occasionally post tattletale pictures of other people's nannys (i.e. "Do you have a 3 year old named Evan?! This is your nanny ON HER PHONE at the park!!" As if it was corporal punishment). Eyeroll.

I'm in a few and they are really funny...one is a Russian moms group and it is just...it makes being married to a Russian make more sense they were all making fun of New York about the blizzard cautionary measures!

I'm in 3 local parenting listservs and 2 Fb mommy groups. They each serve an individual purpose. I have bought and sold items on the listservs and gotten reviews on preschools and classes/activities. I also found out my nanny was a piece of scum asshole on one.
I have laughs often about 2 of the listservs but I'm not going to share the thing that made me laugh the longest/loudest recently just in case mrbee or mrsbee know this person.

I'm on 2 local FB mom's groups for my area, and one is decent and actually helpful, and the other dissolved into WIC postings and arguments over WIC and is on the verge of being shut down by the admins. I hid it because it became so ridiculous.

There is a local FB classifieds that everyone in town uses. I posted some leggings on there to sell that I got at Target. Someone asked me if they were a wolf or a fox print. Umm...it's target sweater leggings. I don't think it's biologically accurate. So I said wolf. Then she sent me a PM and said she liked them but was against the delisting of wolves so she didn't want them.
So I reposted them. Someone said they wanted them, but flaked on picking them up. So I sent her a PM. She said she still wanted them. Then two minutes later she sent a message asking if I wanted to get high. I told her she had the wrong convo.
I think I'm just going to keep them.

I'm in three fb groups - one is a very large across the board general first time mom group that I never post in, just observe and enjoy cute baby pics bc honestly some of these people are crazy. One is about feeding and it's kind of boring bc every day it's someone going "is this ok to give my lo" then everyone jumps down their throat if it's nor organic or local or dusted with fairy sprinkle of organic fairyland or something. Every once in a while someone confesses that they gave their kids McDonald's and looks for forgiveness from the group for poisoning their entire family and it's tiring and repetitive, and rarely helpful actually. The third is my favorite - our August 2014 due date board on hellobee fb group! We converse daily on a lot of things and i love it bc no one is judgmental or crazy!

@chibee: Are you referring to Feeding The Littles? Because that's exactly what it sounds like. I need to just leave that group... Ha!
My HB due date group is my favorite too It's small so that helps. I also learned SO MUCH from the IGT & Chronic Low Supply Facebook group - I would recommend it to anyone with serious breast milk supply issues. I was obsessed with that group for the first few months.
Oh and I am in a VBAC support Facebook group too - even though I am not currently planning a VBAC I really like it. I am in a lot of groups

@daniellemybelle: yes! I joined for helpful tips for when I start solids but I get more helpful tips browsing the threads here so I really need to leave too! If I hear the word organic show up on my feed one more time...

I'm in two mommy fb groups and both are helpful. I joined one later and I'm not as involved in that one but my first one is amazing. I got really lucky with the group of ladies in that one. We don't all have the same beliefs but there is no judging/cattiness/drama, which is rare in these types of situations. I'm lucky with both of my groups.
I was on a huge bf'ing one but dropped off once I was done bf'ing.

@chibee: You mean J doesn't eat food dusted with fairly sprinkles? That's it... you're out of the August 2014 group!!

I am in two local mommy fb groups and mostly I really hate them. I think I just stay in them in case I need local reccos. If I need advice/support I definitely prefer HB! (Thanks for being awesome ladies!) I am also in a listserv that has sales, childcare, and fun stuff to do posts. This one I like, though it clogs up my inbox.

I'm in a few of them. The buy/sell ones are the worst.

I'm in a lot of groups for some reason...
My fave is definitely the August 14 group!
There's also an HB weight loss group which I enjoy a lot.
5 different local swap and sell groups
2 Tiny Toms groups (I don't even plan on buying them, I just love looking at the cute shoes... haha)
I like my local groups. There's not too much drama, and when there is it's just entertaining to stand back and watch

@mamimami: Yeah, before I dropped out (they moved to a paid site and I'm not about to pay $25/year for that kind of crazy), someone dared to say they spanked their kid and the admin was like, "WE DON'T CONDONE HITTING IN ANY FORM. This is a gentle parenting site and you need to move elsewhere." They are very militant in their beliefs (and I'm all for gentle parenting, but I've smacked H's hand when she kept trying to stick her fingers in the oven).

@jedeve: LOLOLOL I am so confused. Are there little wolves all over them? Or do you look like a leggy wolf when you wear them? I mean, either way you totally are against the delisting of wolves and in favor of the legalization of drugs. Duh.

I'm in one, and although it's okay, I get annoyed with some of the questions that could so easily and probably more accurately be answered with a quick Google. Also weird to see former students on it with their own babies.
