There is no such thing as night training. It's a process that has to happen naturally. Kids bodies develop to secrete an enzyme that produces less urine overnight. Additionally, they will learn to wake up to go to the bathroom, that's the action you are looking for.

I know a lot of parents think they contributed by giving them no water after a certain time frame, but that's just coincidence.

@StrawberryShortie: In some kids it happens much later than others. It isn't uncommon for 9 year olds to wet the bed...it makes sense that there's a reason for those larger over night protection underwear!

The action you want is that she wakes up to go to the bathroom.

Agree with above, we just waited for her to be dry every morning for a week or two and then switched. If she's Day potty trained I think if she was ready she would be waking up before peeing in the diaper at night. If she doesn't then she's probably just not ready.

My dd is almost 4 and just night trained ... she was waking up dry most of the time (75%) and no longer wanted to wear pull ups so we just went with it. She had a couple of accidents in the beginning but has been dry for the past two weeks or so.

I bought a peapod mat which made changing the sheets in the middle of the night a breeze, and it gives me peace of mind when she has sleepovers at grandmas or when we are traveling. It's awesome!

We used the Oh Crap! Potty Training book and day & night trained simultaneously at 27 months. For us, night training looked like this: at first, we would take DS to potty at bed time, then again before we went to bed (around 10 pm) and then would set an alarm to get up with him at 2 am to potty. We kept a little potty on the floor in his room and got a soft night light so he wouldn't wake up all the way. If he wet the bed in any of those time spans, we changed his jammies and laid down a big fluffy towel for him to sleep on. We use a water proof mattress pad and change sheets in the morning. We'd also adjust the timing of the pee breaks to try to avoid an accident the next night. Eventually we were able to move the 2 am to 3 am to 4 am, and then we dropped it all together. We also dropped the 10 pm shortly after. Now, DS wakes up for the day dry, or he'll wake up and ask to potty in the night. We ditched diapers in March, and at this point in early August, he's not had any accidents in more than a month. If he does happen to have one, we don't make a big deal out of it; just remind him to call for us if he needs to potty and get him changed/lay down a towel. For us the key was being ok with washing pee laundry when we needed to. Good luck!

We just had to wait it out. It was sometime around 3.5- 3y9m, about a year post potty training that she just started waking up dry and that was that! She's our oldest so of course we were waiting and waiting but other than having to wait it was no stress, which was nice.

My daughter always had a soaking wet diaper in the morning. One day she refused to wear a diaper to bed. I went along with it and then all of the sudden she was dry in her underwear every morning. She must have just been consciously peeing in the diaper when she first woke up.
