I'd like to take a poll for toddlers on one nap.
How old is your LO? What time do they nap? How long do they sleep?

26 months. She sleeps 8-8 overnight. When she first moved to 1 nap at 12 mo she slept 12:30-3:30 most days. She started having trouble falling asleep so we moved it back to 1 then 1:30 and we started waking her at 3:15. Then she went to daycare at 20 mo and they nap 1-3 and she seems to have gotten used to that schedule so now we put her down at 1 again.

DD is transitioning to one nap (17 mo). Today she took a 40 minute nap at 10am and a 1 hour nap at 1pm. She took 1-1/2 hour naps this weekend around noon .
Daycare was laying her down for an AM nap with all the other (younger) toddlers the past week or two...and then she wouldn't take an afternoon nap. I requested they attempt to engage her in something other than a nap this week in the AM. We shall see how that goes. Great post idea!
ETA: DD usually sleeps 7:30p-6:00a

He's 28 months. Sleeps like 8-6ish (usually 10-10.5 hours). He's been a horrible napper his entire life until recently. He naps at 1 and we wake him by 315. We have to wake him most days!
His whole first year of life naps were 30 minutes. Any sort of regression or illness he also will wake at the 30 minute mark.

19 months - sleeps about 8-7 and naps usually 1-3. Sometimes it's 1230-3. Sometimes 1-330. Usually 2 hour nap, sometimes 2.5.
We had a tough transition to one nap - he wasn't solidly on 1 until 17 months.

LO is 2.5 years old, and he takes one nap from 1:30 - 3:00. He gets 10-11 hours of night time sleep.

Thanks everyone! I've been afraid of this 2-1 transition for a few months now and I think it might be happening. LO is 14 months and he's been fighting naps more and more. He just learned how to walk (yay!) so big development there.
Today was interesting. I had to take him with me to an appt at 10 am, so he had no chance to nap in the AM and he didn't fall asleep in the car. When we got home I did lunch early, then put him down and he was out before 12:30. Slept til 3pm - it was awesome! Then he lasted til his normal bedtime, a little after 8.
I'm trying to figure out what to do tomorrow. I have to drop DH off in the morning and E often falls asleep in the car on the way home. Then I have to pick DH up before 3. Maybe I'll try super early lunch and nap at 11:30. My efforts to secure a babysitter have failed again thanks to a last minute change in soccer practice times.

@macintosh: that sounds like a perfect way to transition! Just follow his lead and your mom instinct and expect some days he will crash out for a surprise am nap

16 months, generally 12:30-2:30ish at daycare...more variable at home since we dropped the pacifier.

3 years old and naps between 12:30 and 2:30 at daycare. He just naps whenever he feels like it at home on the weekends and his naps are 2.5+ hours.

My 15 month old just transitioned to one nap. We tried about two weeks ago and she ended up a cranky mess by day 3. A week later she started skipping naps at daycare so we went to one and it's been fine. I do find occasionally she needs two so we play it by ear. It also helps to keep them super busy in the morning and out of the house!

We have transitioned to one, but she could still use two! 15 months... naps from about 11a - 1p. At night, she sleeps from about 7:30 - 7, give or take a half hour. I have been trying to give her a nap after lunch instead of before, but she will fall asleep in her chair.

22 months last week.
He wakes up for the day between 6 and 7am. He naps at noon (give or take a half hour) and naps last typically 2-2.5 hours. I can almost always rely on 2 hours.
1.5 on a bad day, 3 on an amazing day.
Bedtime is 7/7:30.
ETA: he wasn't FIRMLY on 1 nap until almost 18 months. And I still very occasionally will put him down for a morning nap if we have immovable plans in the afternoon, like a flight.

We transitioned to one nap at about 14 months. It wasn't until I started staying home full time that she began consistently taking a 2-3 hour nap. That was around 21 months. Before then her nap was more like 1-2 hours, but she was napping at home or at daycare or at my mom's.
She's now 2.5 and has been taking a 2-3 hour nap (usually 3 hours) for about a year. Her naptime is 1:30ish now. She can skip her nap but usually doesn't.
When we first transitioned to one nap though, she went down around 12. We had to do early bedtimes for a while since she'd be up at 1 or 2. Now she sleeps all afternoon (until like 4:30 or later) and goes to bed fairly late.

Lo is 27 months; at daycare 4x/week, she falls asleep between 12:30 and 1 and naps until 2:30, so 1.5-2hours. At home, her naps are a little more variable but usually about that same time/length. For the longest time (like 11 months-17 months or so) she would nap once at daycare but 2x at home, and then her naps at home were earlier than at daycare (like, she couldn't stay awake past 11:30).

21 months, LO sleeps about 8:30pm - 6:30am, and takes one nap that starts between 12pm an 1pm and will last from 1 - 3 hours. At home, it is usually closer to 12pm and is almost always at least 2 hours, but daycare puts them down at 1 and she sleeps either 1 or 2 hours.

22.5 months, generally sleeps about 7pm-7am with 30 minutes of wiggle room in either direction (although the past week it has been as late as 8am). He goes down for a nap around 1pm and generally naps until 2:30-3, occasionally later. He transitioned to 1 nap around 16 months; it took about 2-3 weeks before he was solidly on one nap.

DS will be 3 in @ 1 month. He takes his nap @12:30/1 and he sleeps @2.5-3 hours. He sleeps less at daycare (he goes 2 days a week).

12 to 12:30
1.5 to 2.5 hours
We gradually got to this point when we switched to 1 nap at 15 months. She needed to sleep by 11 at first (she is an early riser), then gradually stayed up later & later.

16m, 11:30-1:30/2, 2-2.5 hours. He transitioned recently, so I'm slowly gonna be pushing it later and later.

15 months
Sleep: 6:30pm-6am
Naps:
At daycare, 12:30-2:15.
For a long time she has been on one nap at daycare but still doing 2 naps at home. Very recently we decided, after a very long transition, she's ready to do one nap at home as well. So far we've been putting her down for that one nap at 10am and she nap until about 1pm, sometimes longer. I think we're eventually going to want to push that later until it lines up better with her daycare nap.

He's 2.5, he falls asleep around 12:30, and usually sleeps for 2 to 2.5 hours (at daycare they wake them up at 2:30, at home we let him sleep until 3).

@snowjewelz: Ah, this was good to hear! DD gets SO tired by 10:30 / 11. I'm hoping it will get later and later the older she gets. I also think she read this post this morning as she only napped for 30 min
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@ocean81: Yea, it kinda sucked in the beginning. She'd nap from 11-12:30 at most, and then she's over-tired by the time I get home at 6. We just had to grit our teeth and get through that phase; it took 3-ish not quite 4 months to stretch out from 11am to 12:30pm, so it will happen!!

our daughter is 14 months and is on one nap, per daycare rules. she usually sleeps from 12/12:30 - 2:30/3. On the weekends, every once in a while (not super often) she'll take a 30-45 minute morning nap too. she sleeps at night from about 7 pm - 6:15 am.

DS is 27 months. His nap is 1 and he sleeps for 2-2.5 hours. His nap used to be 12:30 for a while she he would sleep for 2.5-3.5 hours. That changed a few months ago.

In case anyone stumbles on this, DS is definitely dropping his morning nap (will not sleep if we try), but he's having a hard time making it to lunch time. Today he fell asleep instead the car (twice!) and refused to nap when we got home. We went out for a playgroup meeting and he was exhausted by the end. He's going to sleep around 6:30 lately. Poor tired buddy.

@snowjewelz: oh man I hope so! Yesterday he was exhausted on the way to run errands but didn't fall asleep in the car. Then errands and lunch took longer than expected and he was a hot mess! These past few days are my first taste of toddler attitude, yikes! Currently attempting a morning nap, wish me luck

@macintosh: When DD was asleep for her 1 nap by 11 (and wakes up by 12:30), she was pretty much always cranky by the time I get home from work at 6. She went to 1 nap at 15 mo and now at 19 mo can last till 12:30 or beyond!
