Kind of a "different" confession but still related to parenting. Ever since DD started preschool and I do drop off I haven't been to work on time!! NO matter what I do I am always 15-45 mins late. EEK. I keep waiting to get reprimanded.... I feel guilty and I know I should just switch my schedule but then it pushes too late in the evening and I'm not sure I'd be able to pick up DS early enough from his provider.

I'm sick, pregnant, in school full-time, and working too much. My kid has watched all 8 seasons of Fireman Sam in the last 3 weeks. It is going to be so painful to detox him from all this TV when it is less necessary.

I've yelled at my 4yo to watch TV or else I would throw away his favorite toys. In my defense he has never played independently in his life and even at 4.5 won't let us rest for even a second on the weekends so it gets really draining especially when we are sick.

I just ordered three seasons of My Little Pony because my husband is going back to work tomorrow and it'll be me, the 3 year old, and the 7 week old all day with no car. I have no shame and am wondering if I also should have bought seasons 5 and 6.

Also, our 3 year old sleeps in our bed (new habit) and I've kind of given up on getting her to go back to sleeping in her own bed because I'm lazy and already exhausted from getting up with the baby, and also I love the extra snuggles.

I want to believe that I’m very into “there are no boy things or girl things, everybody likes what they like” but yesterday I talked my four year old son out of choosing My Little Pony valentines even though he was excited about them - I told him we were going to wait and look another store that had more choices.

Maybe it's not a great "confession", but I always realize on weekends how much more hands off I am with our kids than my husband. Like, I think they are capable of entertaining themselves and playing alone for quite a long while. Whereas my husband annoys me all weekend because I'll be in the bathroom/cooking something/showering/getting dressed and he'll yell for me to come watch the kids because he'll need to run outside to the car. And meanwhile, they are playing happily. I'm like--dude, just go to the car! They don't need someone watching them constantly--They are fine with me drying my hair in another room while you run outside for a minute.

But we have this same argument all day, eerrrr day. Meanwhile, when he's not there, the kids (they are 2.5 and 4.5) know how to drag a stool to the kitchen, stand on the stool to get a coffee mug from the upper cabinet, drag the stool to the kuerig, choose a coffee, make the coffee, get the creamer from the fridge, pour AND stir it, and bring it to me. All with 0 help.

But I only let them bring me coffee when DH isn't around, otherwise he's hyperventilating at every step.

@Anagram: lol bringing you coffee is genius! Your husband reminds me of my mil, we were visiting her over the holidays and she would freak out if I didn’t have my eyes on lo2 every minute. She crawls to me whenever I’m out of her eyesight so if I go around the corner in her open-concept apt to get a coffee, I promise she’ll follow me! But just keep questioning my parenting, that’ll really make us rush back for another visit soon...🙄

I so relate to so many of these! Teeth brushing and sweet-eating especially....oh and swearing. I call dh out when he cusses in front of them but then I slip too, whoops. Yesterday lo1 was saying something that sounded like “holy s****” over and over and it was something else, like open shirt or something, I can’t remember exactly, but I asked her what she was saying and she said “I don’t know” oops!

This morning lo1 (3.5) broke my heart by asking me “why don’t I speak to her like” the baby? Umm well the baby isn’t intentionally pressing my buttons and refusing to listen, but yeah, I need to work on my patience and tone with her...

@Anagram: Oooo giving me ideas for the coffee help when DD is older.

I let my 1-year-old get into stuff she technically shouldn't if it keeps her happy and playing independently...pulling all the ziploc baggies out of the drawer and then out of the box...emptying tissue boxes and ripping up all the tissues...pulling all her clothes out of her drawers or her diapers off the shelf...Meh. She'll do any of these things for a while and be perfectly content and it only takes me a minute or two to clean up later so, whatever. DH thinks I'm teaching her bad habits but he's not the one home with her all day!

I don’t make my 3yo wash his hands every time he pees. Public restrooms, always. But at home...I’m 31.5 weeks pregnant and my back is killing me and I’m tired and he won’t do it willingly. So I’m just not going to wrangle him and fight. I use wipes and sanitizer on his hands when I think of it. Come to think of it, I should just keep some above the toilet so it’s easy and becomes routine.

My husband and I have the same issue. He doesn’t think he can leave our extremely well behaved 2.5 year old alone for 2 minutes. Including when he’s glued to the tv and not moving an inch 🤦‍♀️

@SweetiePie: Ahhh Sing yassss! We are desperately trying to get it on our Chromecast on vacay right now haha.

@Anagram: thank you, amen sister. My almost 3 year old knows how to make my coffee and has for a very long time.

My 9 year old came to me the other day whining that her 3 year old sister ripped the toy put of her hands and wanted me to make her give it back... I may or may not have told her that if the 3 year old was able to pry it away from a 9 year old she deserves to have it.

@codeitall: I legitimately love Masha and the Bear. Not even, like, it’s not bad for a kids show - I love it.

@youboots: same. Playing with my 3yo is boooorrrriiiinnnngggg but I’m so lazy because, pregnant. So we don’t go anywhere right now but school 9-12. Hence, the Sing marathons.

@SweetiePie @youboots yassss I’ve found my people! Give me errands, classes, outdoor play, and tasks and I’m gold! Repetitive play and imagination make me go insane, which is terrible. Thankfully DW can play for literal HOURS so I don’t feel that bad.

For example, DS and I went to gymnastics and groceries this weekend and were out of the house for 2.5 hrs. It was awesome! We had a great time. Home for 2.5 hrs would not be.

I'm probably going to end up tandem nursing my 2yr old when LO2 comes in 6 weeks and I'm half hearted about it / don't really want to but LO1 wants the boob so bad and I don't have the strength / energy to say no. He was weaned 15-22 months but never ever forgot and not that I've got big pregnant boobs and was home with him 24/7 over break.... so he got back into it.

He watches about an hour of TV a day here and there and can work the YouTube app on his own. Due to ads and such I need to uninstall it and force him to use netflix, just haven't gotten to it yet.

@youboots: my 3 year old can role play ALL day and it's SO exhausting lol. And somehow I'm always the baby and she's the daddy?!
