I'm 6 weeks post partum and my lochia dried up about 10 days ago. Last night I started bleeding again and it seems like... my period?? I'm exclusively breastfeeding my LO - on demand, round the clock. I definitely did not expect my period to start again this early - it even took me four months for my cycle to return after stopping the pill!
Anyone else have a similar experience? Could there be any other reason for the bleeding?

It could just be more bleeding. I stopped and started again around that time and then didn't get a period again until after 9 months.

With LO1 I had a few random days of bleeding around 3-4 months, but didn't get my period back until 12+ months.

It could just be bleeding that continues - mine started and stopped for a couple of weeks. But then I got my period back at 9 weeks pp, so I'm not the best example.

YES! This totally happened to me! I was done bleeding for a good week or two, and then all of a sudden right before my 6 week check up I started bleeding again pretty heavily, just like a period. But I too was EBF. Now at almost 11 months PP, I still haven't had another "period". I am thinking it was just PP bleeding, and maybe yours is too.

My pp bleeding came and went. I was convinced at my 8 week follow up that my period had returned, but my dr thought it was still pp bleeding (I had to have an ultrasound to check on something and she didn't think it looked i was ovulating again). Turns out she was right and I didn't actually get my period back until my twins were a year old.

It could be continued bleeding or I could be your period. I got pregnant at 16 weeks pp despite EBF, co-sleeping, etc.

With my first it came back around 7 weeks, so it's possible. Waited until 3 months this time around! EBF both times.

Yep it happened almost exactly this way and I am pretty sure I made a thread about it too! It seemed so unfair, in my case my lochia was just stopping too. It didnt become regular after that, more like every 2 months or so.

Agree with others. It could just be more postpartum bleeding. I had a couple days break and then the bleeding started again around 6 weeks for a couple more days and then went away. I didn't get my period back until 14 months pp.

@ms.line: Yup, same for me. I was breastfeeding (although supplementing with formula too) and got my period back the day after my 6 week PP visit. Yippee. Haha.

I got like a two day "period" at 3 months and after that I didn't get it until 13 months! Hormones are crazy.

I stopped bleeding somewhere around 3 weeks, but it would come and go for about a week, then back at 6 weeks 
I was pumping exclusively then.

My midwife said a bleed at 6 weeks is pretty common. I didn't get a period back at all (although I did get pregnant at 9 mo!)

@ms.line: I had breakthrough bleeding at 6 weeks and thought it was a period. Then nothing until she was exactly 6 months old. That one was a doozy. Be warned. I needed those heavy duty odd they gave you after birth AND a super tampon to stem the flow.

@ms.line: I ebf and have gotten my period back at 5 weeks pp with #1, 5 weeks with #2 and at 6 weeks with #3. It came like clockwork from then on. Clearly I am unlucky in this regard!

I stopped bleeding at five weeks and it looks like I just got my period back at nine weeks (currently 10 weeks pp.), but now I'm slightly hopeful that wasn't it!
First time around I didn't get it back until 10 months pp.
