I'm not bothered by it. I think the soon-to-be-parents are excited and want to tell everyone that they (she) is pregnant, but want to include the SO/DH in the announcement. It does take two people to make a baby. So I take it as a sign of unity.
Also, I think saying "I'm pregnant" kinda leaves the SO/DH hanging.

It sort of bothers me because only one person is pregnant. I always said "we are having a baby" that way it included both of us.

I reached a point when I was really miserable where I'd snap at DH for saying that phrase. But I did understand how he just wanted to share in the experience somehow..."we're having a baby" or "we're expecting" are better ways to say it, which he quickly learned.

I always corrected DH when he said this. With a side eye. No ma'am "we" are not pregnant, I am. We are having a baby, sure.

It's not my favorite. I was absolutely terrible at telling people and could hardly ever get it out. I think I used "I'm pregnant" mostly, but we weren't really together when we told people (most was over the phone). When we told DH's family he said "Mrs. 64 is pregnant" so I guess that's not his preference either.

It doesn't bother me at all because I'm one of those that specifically say "we're" pregnant/expecting. it bothers me when the male is left out as if he had nothing to do with it! Well in most cases he does.

Yep!! We have only told a small handful of people that "we are expecting" but DH keeps saying " we are pregnant" it drives me crazy. I have corrected him passively but have not made a big deal about it. I know he wants to be involved. I told him the other day that if " we are pregnant " then he is a seahorse and I can pass the uterus off for a night.

I don't phrase it that way, but it doesn't really bother me when other people do - in my head I just change it to we're having a baby.
Like PPs though, I have corrected DH when he says it - excuse me buddy, I'm pretty sure only one of us is throwing up, hating the smell/taste of everything, and being physically exhausted from growing a person...and it's not you!

Before I was pregnant I hated it when people said that. Like oh really, and from where is your dh squeezing a child? Now that I am, I think I've slipped and said it. I don't mean to but it doesn't bug me anymore and sometimes it just comes out.

i didn't say that (i would say "we're having a baby") and it sounds a little odd, but it doesn't bother me. certainly not as much as it bothers the author of that post--wow talk about a chip on the shoulder. so it bugs you, jeesh.

I can't remember if I/we said 'we're having a baby'. it doesn't bother me so much. what does bother me is when they use pregnancy as an excuse for BOTH of them...for instance, yesterday I tagged in a FB post asking if people wanted to do something. one of the girls is pregnant and said 'WE can't do it. because WE will be 7 months pregnant. and I don't know if I can handle it' so you SO can't do something because YOU are pregnant, and YOU can't handle it? just something about it rubbed me the wrong way.

doesn't bother me! DH used to say it with my pregnancy with ds! he was just excited and didn't know the "we're expecting" terminology was th emore accepted version!

I also would think it's sweet if my H said it because I would feel like he was just excited and wanted to be a part of it. I don't think any guy is trying to take away from his SO by saying "we," no ones going to forget who's carrying the baby

It was something I swore I'd never say before getting pregnant, but now I drop a whole lot of we's when talking about the baby without even thinking about it. We're in it together. DH says it too, and it makes me all mushy.

It never bothered me. In all honesty, I am a big 'we' person. I probably would of been the one saying 'we're pregnant'. Even now I refer to me and LO as 'we'. Am so bad about it.

Eh it doesn't bother me. Sure, I'm the one that's physically pregnant. I'm the one suffering from heartburn and who will eventually go through painful labour. I still feel that DH and I are equally in this together. I disagree that pregnancy and birth are "uniquely female" in the sense that men apparently have no part in it. I don't need to have all the "glory" for myself. It takes two to make and raise a child. I certainly couldn't have survived the TTC process without my DH.

I like "we're pregnant!" It is 50/50 and I would feel awkward just saying, "I'm pregnant!"... with dh standing there...

It doesn't bother me when other people say it, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one growing a tiny human (and everything that goes along with it) here. WE are having a baby, WE are expecting - sure.
Those are the rules for my DH. I don't particularly care what anyone else says
