That thread from before might have been mine! http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/help-toddler-hysterical-after-nap#post-2561950 Lo has done this a few times, and it's kind of like nothing helps until she's ready to snap out of it herself. Usually I think it's because she's hungry but too wound up to eat at first. Distracting her with a show does help

Ty was like this from when he went on one nap at 14 months until he stopped napping at 34 months! He pretty much always woke up pissed off and crying! For like half an hour he would be mad. I often let him watch a show like you because he wouldn't snap out of it. Now at age 4 if he takes a random nap he wakes up happy.

My son wakes up sooo mad and has for months. He is 28 months. It just recently got better because I had baby 2 and my mom was here and getting him after nap. He couldn't be mad at grandma ;). Now he is kind of out of the habit. But we just put on an episode of paw patrol while he has a snack and then he is good to go. Much better then screaming forever!

DD2 does this occasionally. Actually, if I hear her crying when she wakes up, I often try to give her 10-15m to settle because sometimes it means she is just still tired. If she falls back asleep, she usually wakes up happy. Other times there is no returning to sleep, and...we usually try to do the same as has been suggested: immediate snack and/or a short episode of Sesame Street. Sometimes when she is super-hysterical, I think she maybe had a bad dream, but most times, who knows!?

We eventually "made" my 4yo drop her nap because she was falling asleep so late that we'd have to wake her up, and she was an unconsolable beast!

DS woke up like that a few times, and it was always when I woke him up before he was ready. I also had to put on a show because nothing else helped.
