My son is 7 months old. For multiple reasons BLW did not work for us. We started primarily purees right at 6 months, so he's been eating solids consistently for about a month. We usually do them 2x a day. He does eat fresh food from a mesh feeder bag (avocado, bananas, bluberries, sweet potato, etc). He does pretty well with purees but doesn't eat a ton. I want to make sure he gets his primary nutrition from breastmilk and solids just as a supplement. Plus, since we aren't doing BLW, I do not want to "overfeed" him - want to follow his cues as much as possible so he learns when to start/stop eating.

If you started with purees, how did you transition to table food and when? Also at 7 months, how much was your LO eating? I know that since we started at 6 months, he probably won't be eating as much as a baby who started solids at, say, 5 months. Our pediatrician said "he should be eating 3-4 tbsp of baby oatmeal/cereal plus a jar of fruit/veggies 2x a day" which seems like a ton. PLUS I don't really do cereal (we do occasionally do a little oatmeal mixed with breastmilk which he loves). So we aren't really following that advice.

Would love to hear what worked for you if you started with mostly purees!
