At what point did you allow them to eat from a pouch independently? We have really only fed her pouches out and about for the minimal mess factor, so I haven't really let my 8 mo little one feed herself with them...just wondering when I should be able to do that.

It was probably 9-10 months cause we only use them when out.

7-8 months for us. He had a couple squeeze spills in the first tried but he caught the hang of it quickly.

At 9.5 months she doesn't really get the concept of doing it herself, but also won't eat from a spoon, so I squeeze it in for her!

@Smurfette: Thanks! That doesn't seem too long to wait if we only use them when we go out!
@JoyfulKiwi: thanks! This is what I am wondering-if I just let her do it a few times on her own, maybe she will catch on quickly!
@sslm: That's what I am doing now--squeezing it into her mouth. It's clean, which is good for when we are out!

at 13 months, i still mostly feed it to her or it would be all over the place!

Um, I just kind of handed her one for the first time when she was about 8 months old? She figured it out immediately, and has never made a mess. She sucks them down! We just use them for the occasional meal on the go. Typically she's a messy eater, but for some reason not with those

@birdofafeather: same here! He just learned that he can actually suck it out (at 13 mo). He could maybe hold it himself now, but I think he'd be more interested in squirting than eating.

i help him with the first few sucks/squirts so that he doesn't get excited and squeeze too hard, but after that there is less chance of spill!
