My daughter was a vacuum assisted delivery. I was induced, but didn't progress much all day so it was taking a long time (ended up taking 28 hrs total). I had been pushing for 4.5 hrs, but DD was just not ideally positioned (I have twins and my son was transverse across the top of my uterus, so my daughter was "head down" but had to be positioned sort of sideways because there just wasn't room for her to stretch out). Anyway, I was actually begging for a c section at that point because my epidural wasn't working and I was over it. But my OB was really trying to help me have a vaginal birth for both babies because she knew that was my goal. She said as a last ditch effort we could do the vacuum and if it popped off twice she would do a c section. I was super relieved because I just wanted it over! I finally managed to push her out on the second time with the vacuum. All that and my son ended up being an emergency c section after all. But I am very glad I was able to experience a vaginal birth since I'm not having any more kids! My daughter did have weird marks on her head afterward from the vacuum, but otherwise no issues. I was lucky to avoid an episiotomy and tearing, which I hear can be common with the vacuum.

My first baby was born via ventouse and lost a ring of skin off her head when the cup came off. Poor wee girl was very angry for her first few days earthside! I knew they were using the cup because my midwife called the on call OB and they gave me an episiotomy to help baby out.

I went into labor with DS and pushed for well over an hour. It was a very short labor and delivery (less than 3 hours), but my doctor was concerned I wasn't making any progress and the nurses kept telling me to stop pushing because I would rupture my cervix. They had to get him out though because the cord was wrapped around his neck, so my doc made the decision to give me an episiotomy and use a vacuum to get him out over an emergency c.

My first was vacuumed out! I had a really long induction and pushed for almost 2 hrs.. I had no energy! So they sucked her out and I found out later as well and I was ok with it since I wanted her out too!

@DesertDreams88: My son was supposed to be vaccuum assisted, but they changed their minds and ended in c sec instead.

Like @sapphire said, I'm surprised they didn't consult you! I feel like that's something they should have to do, unless it's a life and death situation.

DD was a vacuum assist delivery. She was sunny side up which made it really hard to push her out. Her heart rate was dropping so they pushed the vacuum. To this day I think they were overreacting (there were other things that happened with this team that make me believe that). I tore more than I would have otherwise, and had a long recovery.
