I never cut blueberries, but did squish them a bit until around 14/15 months for DD1 (never bothered with DD2). I still cut grapes and cherry tomatoes length wise at 4 yrs and 2 yrs old....and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon!

Hmmm blueberries, I don't think I've ever cut unless they are big then I squish? Grapes I stopped cutting at like 3 for my oldest (because she REFUSED to eat cut up grapes) but I'm always right there when she's eating them.

I never cut blueberries and we just skipped grapes until he was around two and I wasn't worried about it anymore. I have seen some awesome little contraptions that quarter grapes for you, though.

Still cut grapes at almost 3.5. I'm never stopping!

I don't remember the last time I cut a blueberry, but if you're feeling uncomfortable, you can just squish it! SO much faster!!
And that OXO grape cutter is a miracle product. I usually hate one-use kitchen tools, but I now gift this to everyone I know. Works great on grape/cherry tomatoes too.

Forever grape cutter. Stopped blueberries around 2.5/3.

We squish blueberries and grapes; don't cut either. I don't think she really needs it since she has a lot of teeth and is good at biting into big grapes and chewing, but it makes me feel better. The hope is to get through toddlerhood without ever having to practice the heimlich. She's almost 16 months.

I don't think I ever cut blueberries. I stopped cutting grapes around 2.5 when she understood she needed to hold them in her hand and bite off a piece before putting the rest in her mouth.

Ok so ladies, if grapes scare you... What about cherries?!?! Those scare me way more. I cut those open and pit them before I give them to my LO.

@sunny: I got a cherry and olive pitter this year for that reason!
Basically anything round and bigger than a centimeter scares me. I always think "the ONE time I let my guard down will be the time". But I am starting to feel ok about blueberries.

@MrsLonghorn: @tlcbaby: the grape cutter is awesome, I have that too!

@sunny: Anything that's round like a grape gets cut, including cherries!

@sunny: yup! Cherries get pitted and cut, and so do cherry/grape tomatoes. Though, at 22 months he now wants the tomatoes whole, so I first pop them in my mouth and take a bite so that they are 'deflated'/squished....

I never really cut blueberries - maybe when first trying them only. I still cut grapes and LO is almost 4. I just cut them in half for him and in quarters for LO2. I'm totally paranoid!
@sunny: I hate serving cherries! I pit them and cut in quarters. Such a pain!

I don’t think I ever cut blueberries. I’m wondering how long I should cut grapes for. After reading this thread, I don’t think I will ever stop.

Driscoll’s brand blueberries can be very large and at 23 months I still cut those up along with grapes, just in half. I also cut up cherry tomatoes.

I only cut blueberries very early on.

Grapes I don't cut for my 3 year old if I know I will be closely supervising. Otherwise, they get cut.

Blueberries I cut and squish for my 13 month old. Grapes I either cut for my 5.5 year old, or I make him bite them lengthwise before putting them in his mouth.

At our 15 month appointment the pediatrician told us to keep cutting anything round, including blueberries. It only takes one wrong swallow.

I think I cut blueberries for my oldest until he was over 2.5. He is 6 and I still cut grapes because he has a tendency to shovel food at school so he can play.

I smoosh blueberries or let DS (2.5) eat whole if they are soft. I will probably cut grapes until middle school.

I’m still cutting grapes for my 5 year old and blueberries for my 16 month old. I can’t help myself.
