I would love to hear more because we are in the same boat! Happy with our B-Ready but don't know if we should consider an umbrella as LO2 gets older and LO1 doesn't need it often. I dont want to invest a lot, and have considered the new Chicco ones.

My decision to own one was based on several situations where I definitely needed to have a stroller in tow, but a big/expensive one might not be practical:

1) Cases where it needs to be left unattended - daycare, theme parks, outside a restaurant, etc.- and might be stolen. I didn't want to leave a stroller with high resale value as an extra temptation.

2) Cases where I need to carry it - going up and down subway stairs, on and off an airplane, into a friend's walk up apartment, etc. - particularly if I also need to have one hand free to help DD1 walk up/down stairs while wearing DD2 - yikes!

we just recently got the UB gluxe when LO was around 15 months because our vista was heavy and huge for moving around all the time. she doesn't use the stroller a whole lot these days, but we wanted something a little lighter for those times when she didn't feel like walking and we didn't want to carry her or bring the huge stroller. it's been so nice to have, but i wouldn't say it's been indispensable so far, mostly because i love the vista and think we could've just dealt with it as our only stroller, since LO loves to walk most of the time.

We use ours for traveling, when we will be in crowded places, or when we will be using public transportation. Or if we will be going somewhere with a lot of steps. We have a g luxe and love it!

@prettylizy: Yes I really want a recline feature I think! And a good sun shade and good storage!

But thats a lot of features to expect out of an umbrella!

For me, the umbrella is SOOOO much easier than the heavy, bulky stroller. We started using it around 18 months and it made a world of difference. M is 2.5 and doesn't really like the stroller so we rarely use it. But it will come in handy when we go on vacation this summer.

For LO1, our Maclaren was our only stroller (lays flat from birth). We were living in NYC at the time and I didn't want a huge stroller, especially for public transit. We have since purchased a full size stroller for LO2 and use the umbrella now for travel.

We use it for travel and going on public transportation.

we went straight to umbrella stroller after the snap n go. we always wanted something lightweight. sometimes i wonder if i would have been happy with a city mini or something, but at this point with your LO being older, i don't think you'll regret getting an umbrella.
