We weren't going to tell them, in case something happened, but then we thought if something DID happen, it would be nice to have support of our families. We didn't tell our friends until later though.

With our first, we waited until we reached 13 weeks. With our current one, we were going to wait until after we got the amnio results but ended up telling our parents at 12 weeks. Since we live abroad, we told our families through phone calls and emails.

We told our parents the same day we got our BFP, but told/asked them not to tell anyone until we gave the ok. I wanted the moms to know right away and decided that if there was a miscarriage, I would want their support and not to have to keep it secret.

Word leaked to close family within weeks (via the parents, my mom asked if she could tell certain relatives, his mom just got excited and told everyone lol), and we went public on FB after the NT scan results, which we got at 11 weeks.

Told my mom and dad at 5 weeks because I needed the support (told them about the miscarriage only after it happened--really tough!).
Told his family/all our siblings at 13 weeks. Told "the world" (aunts, uncles, cousins, friends we talk to regularly and work) at 15 weeks. Plan to tell facebook when we know the gender, or 24 weeks (viability). Only 17 weeks, so... 7 weeks till viability!

We told family at 5 weeks, and started telling close friends at 6 weeks. Now at 12 weeks, most of our close friends know. We have the NT scan next week, after that we will let our parents know they are free to spread the word to family then.

I told our families right away, but waited until 12 weeks to tell anybody else.

I miscarried and I was glad with my decision, and did the same thing next time I got pregnant.

It's a secret, but I told my parents and sister before I told my husband. HAHA. We told everyone as soon as we found out I was pregnant. At around 5 weeks?

I told my mom at 5 weeks. We told the rest of our family after our first ultrasound at 9 weeks. We didn't share with friends until the second trimester.

We didn't tell the family we were trying initially & we didn't tell them we were expecting til I was about 12 weeks. I have a medical condition that makes me have a higher chance of miscarriage & I didn't want to deal with having to tell people we'd mis-carried if something happened. a couple of my close girlfriends did know from the beginning, though

We told my parents (DH's are dead) and some close girlfriends of mine at around 8 weeks. Our rule was that anyone who I'd want support from in the case of miscarriage could hear early.
Then at 12 weeks, after our first U/S, we told extended family and then went FB public. (FB was a must for us since it's how I keep up with lots of friends back in the States).

Gonna tell parents ASAP, everyone else once we hear a heartbeat.

We told our parents right after the BFP and waited until our 8 week appt for the rest of the family.

I called them within hours of getting that second pink line We only told family that early though--friends and not as close family found out at 12 weeks.

@sorrycharlie: for us family was parents, siblings, grandparents & in my case and my aunt & cousin as well {I have a very small family}

We told mine at 11w5d. We had already seen the OB twice and we're comfortable all was going well. We told our friends and the rest of the family after that. I didn't feel comfortable telling anyone before then. I'm not a big sensitive issue talker, so if I had a miscarriage, I didn't want my family to know.

@Rosie Girl: We originally wanted to wait but we decided that it would be nice to have the support & respect from immediate/close family. We told them around 7-8 weeks I think, we kept it a secret for a good 3 weeks! We didn't tell our friends until after our first doctors appointment.
