My DDs, soon to be 2 and 4 years old, share a room. I'm slowly making peace with the fact that my older DD's napping days are pretty much over (whyyyyyyyy?!?!!? ). Until recently, she'd been cooperative about reading, playing quietly in bed until DD2 fell asleep, then joining me upstairs to do some big girl activities. However, the past week or so she's been frankly quite obnoxious at nap time - being really loud, taking off her clothes and jumping on the bed, riling up her sister.... Basically not letting DD2 fall asleep. I've considered just not having her lay down for nap at all, but that gets DD2 even more worked up.

What would you (or did you) do in this situation? Just stop having DD1 come downstairs with me for stories/naptime, or find a way to enforce some quiet time for DD1 while DD2 goes to sleep? Permanent separation into two bedrooms is not an option.
