They didn't tell me my score but I was 3cm dilated, 80% effaced, 40 weeks, baby was dropped but not quite at 0 station, and it was my second baby. I had an uncomplicated 7 hour induction, resulting in a vaginal delivery of an 8lb 10oz baby.

1 - medical induction went very well, which I was worried it wouldn't bc of my bishop score

I was a 6 at 42 weeks (which I don't think is a very good score). I was just looking over my notes tonight actually. Baby was low for a few weeks beforehand (was actually at a -1 I think) but other than that my body wasn't doing much. I had taken EPO orally and vaginally a few weeks before and had been drinking raspberry leaf tea for a while. I was only 1 cm, maybe 1.5 when admitted for induction. Unfortunately for me I ended up with a c-section (first baby). But I did fully dialate and push. Active labour started 9 hours after they broke my water and had me on the oxytocin drip and pushing was at 1 am. The whole process started at 9 am the day prior.

Anything can happen in labour and childbirth and it can happen fast. Hope your little one comes soon, of their own accord.

90% effaced, 1cm dilated, baby dropped, "favorable cervix," 1st birth. Induced with misoprotol and breaking my water at the same time (bad idea to induce 2 ways at once), then low level of pitocin 8-10cm. 25 hours, vaginal delivery. I think it would have gone the CS route if I didn't have complications discouraging that.

Also, I tried sex, walking, spicy foods, pineapple, a little pumping, pedicure, nothing worked.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I don't have experience with bishop scores, but just wanted to chime in with the shoulder dystocia. My friends daughter was big and had it. She didn't tear much (one stitch) but her daughter was in the NICU for a week. This time around (2.5 weeks ago) they mentioned a c section instead because it could happen again. Have you googled the risks of shoulder dystocia? It can be scary for baby. She ultimately went with the schedule c section and said her recovery has been incredible. Good luck.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: you're welcome! She was torn what to do because last time her recovery was so easy with only one stitch. However she said this was even easier (no labour wise) and recovery has been totally fine, but much easier emotionally with a baby who could come home with her at 2 days old. Sorry, typing with Siri. What I meant to say is that the one of the best labor positions is to deliver on your hands and knees. It opens up your pelvis and makes it easier to push a baby out. This is the position I delivered H in. Squatting is also good to help move the baby down. do you know if your hospital has squat bars for the beds?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I had done a lot of research on shoulder dystocia and I believe my findings were that ultimately there isn't enough research to say that LGA babies are at any more risk of it than others.

I was a 0 and delivered vaginally (barely). It was a long (28 hours) unscheduled induction (due to complications), LO was posterior, and I had a life-threatening hemorrhage. If I had been given a choice, I would have chosen a c/s.

I also agree with @oliviaoblivia, that babies won't really run out of room. But whatever you decided to do, I'm glad you have peace with it. T and I aren't super tall (5'5 and 5'6) and my parents are taller, his are shorter, but both of us were smaller babies. He was born early due to complications and I was born about a week late at 7 lbs and change.

ETA: Sometimes you just have bigger babies. A girl I know has delivered four babies vaginally, all of them over 9 lbs. and the last one was 11 lbs. She didn't have GD with any of them as far as I know.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: if it was me I would wait a few more days. I wouldn't schedule a c section due to his current size and as a FTM. This might be your norm and your body could just go into labour and do its thing! They would do a an episiotomy before you even deliver?/ he crowns? Because what if you just tear and he comes out? Things should stretch and if they don't I feel tearing is better. Some people experience little to no tearing even with bigger babies.

Agree with people saying sometimes people just have big babies without having GD, that was me. They tested her sugar levels after birth and hers were normal too. Even though my body didn't go into labour I still feel like people's bodies can and do go into labour on their own even when they aren't showing signs. I am in the wait, but don't wait too long camp. 42 weeks was long enough for me in terms of risks I was willing to take, especially when you're sure on dates.

As far as my experience: I had 2 inductions (due to pre-e) with unfavorable scores that were amazing. Both times I went from starting pitocin to birth within 8 hours. I did not have any pain medication and everything really started moving once I was far enough along that they could break my water. I do not tend to trust late term ultrasounds for size and under 9lbs to me is not that large.

You've gotten lots of good advice here and I wanted to share my story. I was induced at 39 weeks due to my IVF pregnancy. I was 4 cm and I think 50% effaced (can't remember station). I started with pit only, water broke mid day, and baby was born 13 hours after the start of pit. I had an epidural (hell yes!). 3rd degree tear, healed up just fine.

Now I'll tell you that I was monitored closely by MFM. At every ultrasound LO measured about 2 weeks ahead. At my final appointment with MFM they estimated the baby could be 10 lbs and the doc said it was possible that I might need a c-section.

On the day of induction bay was measured "over 10 lbs". I was warned of the risks again. The NICU team was brought in during pushing as a precaution. I swear there were 15 nurses/doctors in the delivery room when my son was born. He ended up being only 8 lbs 13 oz. Not a small baby, but a whole pound less than expected. I really wanted to avoid c-section because my husband can't help like an able-bodied dad can, and I'm glad I did.

As others have said, I would wait before you make any decisions. Even an episiotomy doesn't have to happen until the doctor is sure. My hospital birthing class told me episiotomies are very rare nowadays. I'm sure your medical team will help guide you when the time comes.

You may know this already, but if you do go into labor or get an induction, having an epidural will make it easier if you do need a csection. If an emergency happens during labor and you don't have an epidural you could end up under general anesthesia.

I don't know my score but I was 10 days overdue, about 75% effaced, almost 3 cm dilated and at like a +1 station. It was also my second baby. The induction took 7.5 hours and ended in a vaginal birth with very minimal pushing (and I was able to avoid an epidural).

I actually used the peanut ball after they broke my water to stay comfortable and it helped. I also had two doses of stadol to avoid the epidural.
