I was wondering the same thing, and think I would. Carseats are really expensive, and if you need v multiple the costs add up. I hate that baby items are so expensive but temporary uses!

Honestly, no, unless it was from someone I know really well and trust enough to be careful/honest with the use & history of their car seat. I would be more likely to spend $40 on a cheap Cosco that I know hasn't been compromised in some way.

I'm sure it's fine a vast majority of the time, but for me it's not a risk I'd feel worth taking.

No way. You never know the history of the seat if its purchased from a place like a consignment store.

Only from someone I knew. We have a hand-me-down extra seat from our neighbors that I will use when DS is older (if it hasn't expired). That said, I did sell one of our convertible seats when DS outgrew it. It was to another mom in town and she wasn't the least concerned about buying one used, despite not knowing me.

I would never buy a seat from someone I don't know. Too many unknowns.

That said, if you know your seat has been taken care of properly I see no harm in trying to sell it. Someone else can decide their own comfort level.

My local FB resell doesn't allow to sell car seats. I wouldn't buy a used one. But we borrowed an infant seat for LO from a friend. I knew how long they used it and it wasn't in an accident. Our neighbors have offered us theirs for LO2, again no accidents and I know them, so we will probably take them up on it.

I used a hand me down from my sister and would from someone I knew, but would not buy used from someone I don't know. TBH now that I know more about car seats I even question using my sisters since she isn't as car seat crazy as I am! But I know people do it and really, I do have faith that most people wouldn't knowingly sell a car seat that had been compromised in a crash. It's more that I worry they would have done something without realizing it is wrong, like wash the straps or something.

Mine expires the month the baby will outgrow it so I'm just going to save it for a trade in event.

No, even if I knew them I wouldn't be comfortable. Sometimes people just don't know better and could have been doing something that compromises the safety and efficiency of the car seat. When it comes down to it, myself and my DH are responsible for our child's life, and a car seat is life saving tool, so I take it pretty literally.

I would never buy a used seat. You don't know the history and i don't really trust it even if someone said no accidents. That's just me.

I did for the bucket seat for both of my kids. We never drive though, so they were each used for less than 2 weeks before my kids grew out of them. We bought new when we switched to the larger sizes.

I wouldn't, but they're all over out local FB BST and lots of people DO buy them. You know that your seat wasn't involved in an accident, so I don't see any problem with you offering it for sale. There are people out there who will buy it, and you're not doing anything wrong, like trying to pass off an unsafe seat.

As many people have posted above, I would buy/ take a used seat from someone I knew but I would never buy a used one since I wouldn't know if it had been in an accident or if it had been used properly. We actually had a backup convertible seat from Toys R Us that cost about $40 that was really lightweight and easy to install for my mom's car. All the car seats have to pass the same standards testing anyways.

I'd buy just about anything used except the carseat and crib.

I wouldn't, but I sold mine to someone on FB very quickly after listing it. No judgement, just not something I personally would buy used.
