We are having the same discussion. Grandparents gave us adorable outfits last night and DH wants to wash them and wear them today. I bought Christmas shirts months ago and want them to wear those. Grandparents outfits are beautiful outfits that don't scream Christmas so I think we will save them for New Years.

Um. Mine. I'm the mommy and I get to pick out special outfits for holidays for my kids. I don't mind if they get special things if we have discussed it beforehand but if I have already gotten something I definitely want them to wear those.

@Plumeria: not the same thing but i purposely don't buy holiday themed outfits for ds because i don't like them and of course - we got them anyway from grandma!! it actually stressed me out rotating him through the outfits enough times before christmas (he won't be able to wear 12 month clothes next year at 24 months so i feel that they are mostly wasted......)!

We sort of had his- got a super cute fancy little velvet Christmas dress for the baby, but I already bought matching outfits for Christmas Eve and Christmas for both girls. I ended up putting it on her on Friday after she has a blowout in something else anyway and we saw one of the people who gave it to her. But I picked out their matching Christmas dresses with the 3 year olds input and they will wear them today.

The Christmas Eve on trots were barely worn since everyone got sick and ended in pajamas most of the day.

It really depends on what the gifted outfit looked like. LO wouldn't even wear her Christmas dress I bought her today so if I had been so lucky to convince her into another outfit that would have been just fine by me.

Depends how much I care. We do two Christmases, one with DH's family a few weeks early and one with mine on Christmas day. My MIL has bought my daughter an outfit to wear for Christmas every year so far, and I don't really care. I don't really do special holiday outfits so it's fine with me. But knowing that she does it, if I ever did buy an outfit I wanted her to wear, I think I'd text her a pic when I got it and let her know I already got an outfit for that day.

I'm a cheapskate so I'd see this as a chance to return the ones I bought and save the cash. Assuming I like the gifted ones.

@Plumeria: when my mom, who is the only grandparent that buys them, does buy anything, she gives it to us way in advance. I've never disliked it so I've always taken it as a chance to save $ and hers gets worn! If I'd already bought outfits I would try to work them both in.
