huh, i haven't heard of this, and our daycare didn't do anything for it.

Kids like it. In Kindergarten, counting each day of the school year is a good way to learn numbers. They're doing it in first grade, too. It's a numbers thing. It's a good way to celebrate math. Plus, just something fun to do.

My DD's class did it last year (ages 3-5). The kids had to bring in something that represented 100. We strung a 100 beads on a piece of yarn and made a necklace. Some kids brought a jar of 100 pennies or a paper with a hundred stickers on it. It was a great lesson on counting to 100.
