I brought entirely the wrong things with me the first time. I had too many of the wrong kind of clothes, and not enough nursing stuff.
What's on your list the second time around? I am trying to be as minimalist as possible!

All I really used this time was toiletries, nursing night gown, thin cotton robe,, slippers, flip flops and loose yoga pants and nursing tank / open cardigan for going home. Wallet. Camera. Cell phone charger, iPad. Large ziplock bag with snacks for MOTN when can't get food from hospital.
For baby just used a going home outfit and one blanket.
We were there for just 48 hrs (11 tues thru 11 thurs with baby born at 10 on tues).

Toiletries, PJ-type clothes (I wore the same outfit home that I came in), slippers, nursing pillow, a box of granola bars, a box of peanut butter crackers, cell phone charger. I also brought a pillow (so much better than a plastic hospital pillow).
for baby - just one newborn sleeper and an A&A blanket and the car seat.

Last time, I was really glad I had fuzzy socks, my own pillow, toiletries (soap and deodorant mostly), a little makeup for photos, and an extension cord for my phone! The wall was so far away from the bed. Oh and my heating pad. These are must haves this time around! Oh and snacks. I brought a jar of honey peanut butter, apples, and pretzels. All non offensive to throw up and filling

I'm just going to grab a robe, huge pajama type clothes, makeup, and my face stuff/toiletries. I lived in their granny panties and hospital gown with a robe. I was so bloated from IVs for 3 days that I dreaded putting on real clothes.
I'm delivering about 4 seconds from our house so if I need something, DH can grab it for me.

I'm not a second time mom, but in addition to what everyone else is saying, I'm gonna bring nipple cream and breast pads...I don't know if putting on the cream from the beginning will help prevent any future soreness but it can't hurt trying.

I will probably pack much of the same next time, I found I used everything and more. I was in the hospital from Friday until Monday.
I brought
A couple of nursing tanks
Wrap top to cover up when I had visitors/walked
Yoga pants (2 pairs)
Socks
Underwear (hospital here doesn't provide any)
Going home outfit for myself which ended up being the same thing I wore in. Cropped yoga pants and a tshirt
Soap, lotion, toothbrush and paste, hair brush, shampoo/cond, deodorant, Chapstick. I brought make up but didn't touch it so I will skip that this time.
For baby
Diapers (hospital here only gives you the first)
Vaseline/ointment to help with meconium poo
Sleepers or nightgowns (found the gowns way easier for diaper changes when we were still getting the hang of it)
Several hats because our room was freezing
Going home outfit
Nursing pillow
Car seat
Labour stuff
Refillable water bottle
Some snacks for me and DH
Microwave heating bean bag (single most important item for me!!).
Camera

My own pillow. I brought it last time, and it was SO KEY.
After that, toiletries, camera, phone/charger, comfy pants/nursing tank, several changes of underwear, boppy.
I'm going to ask for the hospital pump right off the bat and have my double pump ready to go at home.
@oliviaoblivia: You are SO CLOSE!

Oh ya, own pillow for sure!! Forgot I brought that. Their pillows suck.

Nursing top and yoga pants for leaving the hospital. Toiletries. Coming home outfit for LO. Boppy for nursing. And I think that was it really? We live like 5 minutes from the hospital!

@pmrlady: my milk didn't come in until I left the hospital so I didn't need the breast pads, but I did have DH bring in nipple cream.

Last time I used the birth ball, my slippers, and the nursing pillow the most. I didn't wear regular clothes until I went home (wore the hospital gown), but I think I might want to wear them earlier this time. I brought two outfits for baby, but only needed one. I brought my kindle, computer, and camera last time, but will probably just use my phone this time. Toothbrush. Makeup. Hair ties and headbands.

This is so interesting! Thanks for sharing everyone! LO was in the NICU last time, so with all the walking back and forth I definitely needed pants and shirts. I never even considered just wearing the gown this time!
Is it crazy that I have a preemie, newborn, and 3 month sleeper to bring because I have no idea when I will have this baby or how big she will be? Most likely 38 weeks, but could be anywhere from 36-42 weeks

If I had to do it all over again, I would pack some fluff reading, like magazines. I was up at weird hours and the room had no TV and I had nothing to do to pass the time.

I was only in the hospital for 8 hours with DD2, from the time I arrived in labour, to the time we went home with a new baby, so I didn't use much of anything! Just my toiletries to shower afterwards, a change of clothes for me, a going home outfit for DD2 and some nappies for her as the hospital doesn't provide any.
I had packed for a two day stay though, just in case, but still only packed minimally - couple changes of clothes, maternity pads, few girl and boy outfits (we were TG), nappies, wipes, A+A muslin blankets, flip flops, toiletries, and some books to read. That was it! That was all I used with DD1 when I had her, despite having everything but the kitchen sink in my suitcase, lol!

@anonysquire: Yeah, practically nothing is my plan too. Jammies to labor in. A dress to wear after. Phone charging cord. Going home outfit.
