Help! My 5 month old has always nursed to sleep but the last few days he's been incredibly fussy at the breast at bedtime. He eats, pops off and cries.
This is his normal feeding time (he nurses about every 2-3 hours) so I know he's hungry and I hear him swallowing so I think there's milk coming (when I squeeze, milk shoots out).
He has not been fussy during nursing any other time but bedtime When he fusses, I switch between breasts, try with and without the shield (he's nursed with the shield since birth), switched positions, burp him in between and always nurse in the dark in his nursery with white noise. Nothing works to calm him down.
I also don't think he's teething as we don't see anything, he has not increased drooling and doesn't have red cheeks, although he is fussier during the day overall and has been sucking/chewing on things more overall....so maybe it's teething?
Help! Since he only fusses at the nighttime feed I don't know what's going on!? I finally got him calm by trying the pacifier a few times (the first couple of times I tried to give him the pacifier he got pissed!! Like, he was pissed while nursing but pissed when not nursing!!??)
