hi ladies! i've gone MIA for quite a while and wanted to reintroduce myself before i started posting all over the place again haha
the hubs and i have been TTC for 14 months - december is 15. although, to be fair, september through november was more of a "break" - especially after sandy hit and we had to go into demolition and rehabilitation mode.
just wanted to say hi, and i look forward to chatting with you ladies again!

thanks ladies, it feels good to be back 
we're doing good post-sandy, going to be rebuilding for a few months before we can move back home, but safe and sound in the meantime - which definitely leaves some time to focus on baby things!

@Andrea: i do, but further south from where most of the very serious destruction happened - we're about 15 minutes south of Atlantic City on another barrier island, about half an hour south of Long Beach Island, Seaside, and Ortley, which is where most of the unbelievable damage started. our house got quite a bit of water (about 2 feet in my first floor, and about 4 in my detached garage), but we're still standing and definitely fixable, and the insurance company and FEMA have been fantastic, along with our neighbors.

@pastaandpotato: welcome! so sorry to hear how your house was affected through Sandy - i live in point pleasant and my in-laws had to move in w/us as well since their home was destroyed. I have to agree, FEMA has been really impressive! can't say too much about their insurance company but FEMA really stepped up.

@chibee: i'm so sorry for your in-laws. is there house going to be able to be repaired? and how was your house? we had called our insurance co. and started the claim process between the 2 tides, so we actually had the adjuster from them at our house within about a week and a half, which was awesome (even though they're saying about another 3 weeks before we start seeing settlement amounts) - i was totally impressed w/FEMA, too!
@Andrea: thank you, it really has been exceptional how helpful everyone we've been dealing with has been.

@pastaandpotato: they had FEMA in within less than a week and they started the repair work within a week! they knew it was bad and they had to move fast - unfortunately they got nothing from the insurance company (since they didn't have a mortgage they had opted out of the flood insurance). they live only 2 blocks from the beach and we are about a mile so we escaped any damage, and I am so thankful for that! did you have a lot of damage to your house? I'm still in shock of how much damage there was from Sandy!

@chibee: ugh, that's so rough with no flood insurance, i hope everything works out for them. our first floor was totaled, and is stripped down now to studs and floor joists and all sprayed for mold. we're on a narrow part of the island, so we're 1 block from the bay and 4 from the beach - luckily, though, everything around town seems to be getting back together, so things are finally starting to look back to normal - just a slow slow process, especially farther north where you are, its just so crazy! i keep telling the hubs that the whole thing is still surreal

@PastaAndPotato: goodness gracious, welcome back and good luck with the rebuilding process!!! My MIL lives in Staten Island but was lucky enough to only lose power for a couple of days, and my brother's family lives in Bergen Country and lost power for almost 2 weeks. Nothing, compared to what you are going through!!
