I think if it lasted much past a day (moderate pain), I'd call. I probably had a little crampy pain for maybe a day and spotting for about the same, maybe less...

I spotted for a couple of hours, but did not have any cramping other than during the actual procedure.

I was lucky and had no spotting, some cramping for part of that afternoon and the next day then it was gone.

@Mrs Green Grass: it's not PAIN pain anymore, but cramping/pressure like right before your period. HSG was friday and i'm still pausing and breathing deeply due to discomfort, not constantly, but a few times each hour. not enough to need meds, just enough to be constantly aware of pressure and occasionally moderate pain.
i wonder it it's worse because it didn't go well & she had to do the catheter a couple time and clamp my cervix. that night was the worst of the pain (was in a ball crying it hurt so badly), it's much better, but still not gone

@mrs. bird: you poor thing I think the biggest concern is infection. If it's getting better with time that's probably a good sign, but if it gets any worse definitely call.

I am pretty sure my experience was atypical, but here goes...
I bled heavily for about two days and spotted for a few days after that. I was in discomfort immediately, like mild period cramps, which turned to severe period-cramp pain later that night. The next day, I woke up feeling like I had the flu-it was awful. Turns out I had a cervical infection, for which they gave me antibiotics. The medicine made me functional within about 24 hours, but I was still in a lot of discomfort and pain for a few days afterwards. I needed Motrin and a lot of rest to make it feel better. I think I was better within a week or so? Maybe less, but it definitely was at least 4 days.
I hope you feel better soon!

@Shutterbug: @mrs. bird: I agree, I would call. They told me that I was not at a particularly high risk for an infection, since my tubes were clear and I had never birthed a baby before, but that you just never know. I had a lot of clots that I passed, and that's likely what did me in.

I took 2 Advils before my HSG. I had cramps for about 20 minutes after the procedure before they subsided. Then, around 3 hours later I started getting cramps again. I took some more Advil and was fine.
I bled on and off for the rest of the day.

I had no discomfort after my HSG, just some leakage, no bleeding. I went right back to work after it.

@Shutterbug: if i get a fever or anything, i'll def call! i'd heard other people mention taking antibiotics beforehand, but i wasn't given any. she did say she did a wash on my cervix to prevent infection. i also wasn't sure if you were supposed to wait to DTD after, we did sunday (he needed to... flush the pipes... before his appt today and it was his birthday, so i kind of felt like i had to), not sure that was a good idea though. i'm hoping i feel better by friday, i have to go for the 3d scan (they're making me go to another place in brookline for it ) and i can't imagine having them put anything up there right now while i still feel uncomfortable

@LovelyPlum: did you have a fever or anything smelly or other clues you had an infection? i am insanely tired, but i think it's just 'cause the kittens have been keeping me up at night. i'm sorry yours was painful! i haven't had any clots, there was blood when i got off the table, and i bled that day, but since then it's been darker spotting when i wipe, but no flow to it.

@mrs. bird: I did have a fever, but it wasn't particularly high or right away. I didn't have any discharge but bleeding, I don't think, or if I did, the blood covered it up. Mine wasn't a flow, necessarily, but just lots and lots of clotting. My biggest clue that I had an infection was that I woke up the next day feeling like I had been hit with a Mac truck-it hurt to move, I couldn't eat, I had chills, and I pretty much just wanted to die. I called the on-call doc (it was the 4th of July), and his response was pretty much, "huh, that's weird, you shouldn't have an infection because you're at almost no risk for one. But that's what it sounds like you have, so I'll call you in a script." I started feeling better within a few doses of the antibiotics, but I was really tired and noticed a low-grade fever for a few days afterwards. Once the medicine kicked in, it just took a bit for the soreness to go away.
I'm sorry your experience wasn't great, either. I was pretty unprepared for the potential that it could go anything but smoothly afterwards, so it came as quite a shock that I didn't bounce back right away. Even if you don't have a fever, it may be worth a call to your doctor, just in case.
I'm not sad that I had the procedure done, but I decided that if I ever have to do it again, I'm asking for an antibiotic beforehand!

I had cramping for 3 days after, but my HSG was difficult due to my tilted uterus. They had to use different sets of tools and whatnot with multiple attempts.
Totally worth it because that's the month I got my BFP.

This last HSG, I had cramping for a day. It was no where near my first experience, which I'm glad. My first HSG made me bed-riddened for 2 days after. I think I might have had a allergic reaction to the iodine that they flushed with. This second HSG they did not use iodine.

@mrs. bird: I didn't have discomfort, bleeding or spotting. A little dye leaked out. And, the procedure was a little awkward. Other than that, it was very easy.

@CatchAFallingStar: lucky you! I stopped spotting yesterday, so that's good!
