Absolutely! I've had a few surgeries so far and they were TOTALLY worth the money and recovery time! I think anything that makes you feel better about yourself is absolutely worth it.
eggplant / 11824 posts
Maybe!! If money were no object - I would totally get stuff done!
While I like in theory the idea that my flabby belly and scars should be embraced because they mean I carried and birthed babies - that isn't for me; for me it just means I have a soft belly and scars. They don't add anything for me, LO is proof enough; my jelly doesn't reinforce my motherhood.
I am/would consider a tummy tuck. Exercise can't totally restore extra skin, and I have a lot of life left I'd like to enjoy. As @blackbird said, life's too short IMO to have a body I'm not fully happy with.

I am generally all for things changing naturally.... so I don't plan to get a face lift or a tummy tuck or anything like that. That said, I have huge breasts, that have only gotten bigger with pregnancy (as breasts tend to do); DH and I have agreed that when we are done having children I will get a breast reduction. I can't wait! I would do it sooner, but I don't want to risk it screwing with my chances to breastfeed normally as long as possible. And hopefully most of the cost will be covered by insurance.

Plastic/cosmetic surgery isn't something I'd consider.
I do want to get LASIK though!

@CupQuakeWalk: what did you do to sort your boobs out? I'm horrified at what pregnancy and nursing did to mine!
I would defo think about a boob job but only once we were sure we were done.

I would love to get a breast lift whenever I wean my last. But I would probably chicken out. I don't think I have the balls to risk elective surgery.

In theory would like a breast lift. Even my small Bs are pancakes now! But I don think I could ultimately go through with it Bc I hate pain and surgery.
I am however very open to Botox and other skin improvers

Probably not. My boobs didnt change at all and I will work hard to get my belly back. As long as my body is healthy and my heart is happy, I wont change a thing!

After my first I was kinda thinking about doing it in the future, but now I don't care enough to spend the money or risk the surgery. My belly and boobs were flabby before, so no huge change for me! I do have severe stretch mark damage that I was sure I'd get laser treatments for but, again, I don't care enough.

If need be in my eyes, hells to the yes. I have my mum's terrible skin elasticity (I have a million stretch marks from just growing and even more now after gaining weight) and for her, 2 kids and 2 csections made for a flabby belly that never went away no matter how much diet or exercise she did (and believe me, she worked to get rid of it) and her boobs went to pancakes without even BFing. She got a tummy tuck 10 years later and has never regretted it (didn't really care about the boobs).

I always said I would but I can't imagine extra $$$ laying around after having 3 kids, so probably not
eggplant / 11287 posts
Hmm. Maybe. Part of me says "yes, absolutely, if we could afford it."
The other part of me says "will it really be worth the pain and recovery?" my friend who has had a boob job said it was the worst pain she had ever felt in her life...worse than childbirth.
Also, my goal is to work my booty off at the gym and get my body how I want it with good, old fashioned hard work. I am hoping I can make it happen so I won't have to consider surgery.

Not me. My body went through a lot of weight gain twice really close together due to my pregnancies ad my body is almost back where I want it. I'm a big believer in diet and exercise.
pineapple / 12566 posts
@beaker: me too! The only elective thing I would consider is LASIK.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: I had a boob job and I don't think it was bad. I think the only thing I would really do is get a boob lift. I'd try exercise and diet before I'd seriously consider tummy work. I'm against lipo.

@blackbird: have you talked to your doc? We have several Physical therapists in this area who specialize in pelvic floor rehab work. I did some PT for spasming pelvic muscles post partum and went from excruciatingly painful sex to feeling 100% back to normal within two months,

Yeah, I'd totally consider it. I've been planning the boobs since I was 15, to be honest. DH agreed long ago that I could get them. I'd consider the boobs/tummy tuck package at this point, simply to get rid of loose skin. I have a literal flap of stretched out tummy skin. I still have some pounds left to lose, but if it doesn't go away more then it's a total option for me.
I think you should do what makes you happy.

@winniebee: botox - I really want to try that!! But that is the most I would do!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
I'm really curious if all the NO! Votes are younger moms.... Baby 2 is coming when I'm 34. I worked my bootie off to get back to normal size and shape after 1 but the boobs is a surprising thing.
When you are an older mom your body just doesn't bounce back the same way.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Nope.
@winniebee: I'll be almost 31 when baby #2 arrives and if all goes well, 32 by the time I'm done breastfeeding. Not sure if you'd consider me a young mom or not.
As much as I dislike these new saggy boobs I have, I wouldn't have surgery to change things. Too much of a risk. Plus I find that even though I don't look as good as I used to, I love my body more now for having carried my babies! No change for me!

I've played with idea of a breast lift since before I had kids, cause lets just say puberty hit hard and fast... Not sure I'd actually do it though. Seems like a lot of trouble and healing time just for something for vanity. Now if there was back pain involved with it I'd be for it. And the tummy? Well, I'd like to just do my best with exercise and toning and see what I can get. We'll see...

@winniebee: I think a lot of them are.. there is a world of difference in your body bouncing back in your 20s or in my case mid 30s...
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
@winniebee: I voted yes, and I'm 26! My body is in no way bouncing back after my LO. It stinks!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
I'm ok with my stomach but I would love a boob job. Not to make them bigger or smaller, but just to make them perky!
pomegranate / 3411 posts
@winniebee: i plan to get pregnant with LO#2 just after I turn 34, and theoretically I could be breastfeeding until I am 37 (and OMG that calculation just made me feel really old because I am currently 33!),....and I voted "NO!" It is something i have felt strongly about my whole life - as much I have body image issues, I would never take it as far as elective surgery and all the risks associated with it. I am all for push up bras though.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@littlek: exactly! I really wonder what it would have been like to have kids in my 20s!
@Bookish: lol! Interesting!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@californiadreams: I hear you! I never thought I would say maybe but I'm telling you boobs are just never the same again! Fortunately my husband is a bootie man anyways
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
@winniebee: yep!! I was lucky to have my kid early, but now I'm pretty sure I want to be done before I'm 30...if my body is this wonky now, I can't imagine the amount of saggy ridiculousness that I'd have 10 years from now! Darn it!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@winniebee: I'm 32 and still said no. Elective surgery is just not for me.
