A friend of ours just announced they were pregnant with baby #2 only after trying a few months. Am I a bad person for blocking her off my newsfeed cause it just pains me too much to see all the baby updates?

@mrsloving: not at all. I did this several times while I was TTC. I should check my newsfeed to see who's blocked still now that I have a LO.

No, you can always peek at her page once a week or so to catch up when you are feeling up to it. There is no reason to be caught off guard every time you check FB.

Nope. I've set it up so I only see important posts from some people for similar reasons.

Not a bad person! You'd be a bad person if you posted something mean on her wall-- this doesn't hurt anyone and just makes things a little easier for you.

Not at all. I did that for years when I was angry that we weren't trying to have a baby yet.

Nope! Been there, done that. Take care of yourself, they will never know.

Not bad at all! Went on last night to see a baby #3 announcement. That stung.

Definitely not! I did that with several people when we were trying after my MCs

No! Anyone who has to update the world about their weekly progress gets hidden.

If doing that makes you a bad person, then I am the devil. I can't tell you how many people I have unchecked to not show up on my newsfeed!!
ETA: for the same (and other) reason(s)!!

@Lindsay05: I am not ttc but I find the weekly updates obnoxious too!
I don't think it's rude, it's not like they know about it or you're saying anything to them to impede on their happiness!

Thanks everyone for your kind words! When she was pregnant with her first baby she was posting weekly updates, pictures of her belly, etc. I just couldn't take another round of while I'm TTC and nothing has happened after 20 months. It just stings too much.

Not a bad person at all! I have had to block some people from my news feed as well. They are never going to know, and you need to do what is best for you! I am right there with you (24 months of trying here), and I am starting to realize that I need to do what I can to help myself get through this, so if that means blocking posts from a friend, then that's what I do. *HUGS*

not at all! i've def blocked some people on my newsfeed. (my cousin has been posting like crazy about #5!! ..blocked!)
also just was included on a large group text from my best friend with a pic of the envelope with the gender of her #1 and keep getting everyone's "omg" responses.. wish it was sent to me separately, especially considering that she knows of the troubles me and dh have been having..

Not a bad person at all. Luckily we conceived not long after but it was a bit of a blow to log on to FB and see a #2 announcement (at four weeks pregnant) from someone who was supposedly 1 and done. Do what you need to do.

No not at all! It's not a direct attack on her, it's what you need to do to preserve your own peace of mind...

Not one bit. You do what you need to take care of yourself. It doesn't matter what everyone else is doing or not doing. Big hugs!!

Ok, I generally only see this person maybe twice a year, but I have the pleasure, I guess, of seeing her this weekend. Which means I will have to hear all about baby #2. Lord give me the strength to handle it, or at least some alcohol to help me.

@mrsloving: I know just how you feel, and I am sure many other bees can also relate.
Hang in there.
