I didn't realize this was a blue dye test when I bought it today at Safeway. Anyway, could this be positive? This is after drinking lots of coffee and water. I'm 13 DPO.

I kind of see a shadow but I know that those tests are notorious for evaps. I would also think that at 13 DPO, even with diluted urine, you could get at least a faint but visible line.
I'd take a FRER in the morning or tonight with a long hold!

@CatchAFallingStar: If it were me, I would definitely prepare for AF to show up. But I'm pessimistic and try to never get my hopes up

@mrskansas: haha... yeah me too!! We are doing IUI next cycle, so I know there's hope moving forward. Just bought some FRER's though.

@CatchAFallingStar: I'm glad you have a plan for next cycle!
It makes me a much calmer person if I have a plan moving forward and at least feel like I'm doing *something*.

@mrskansas: yes! We're going to use the same protocol we used with my daughter. Worked first time last time!

I see something but I don't know if that makes it positive. But you're not just seeing things!

@CatchAFallingStar: I see SOMETHING! But I don't trust the blue dyes. Show us the FRER!

FRER was stark white. I had spotting on Saturday. Maybe implantation? If that's the case, maybe HCG just isn't very high yet? And I'm testing late afternoon. I don't know. Frustrating. Stupid Safeway test!

@CatchAFallingStar: I never tried the blue dye tests but my FRER were stark white when my cheapie WONDFOs were ever so faintly positive (happened three times). The FRER eventually turned positive but I didn't have the same success that most people talk about with the FRER. Also, I'd probably wait until your first morning urine if you can bear it....

Here's the same pic but added contrast. Would hat line be too thin to be real?
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: I would do another 3-4 hour hold and try tonight.
I see the thin line and it could be real but with that much contrast it could just be the indent or shadow.

I hate those blue dye tests. I see what you see but I don't really think it's a positive line. At least not on this test. I would retest tomorrow.

Has anyone ever had a false positive with these blue dye tests? I'm confused by all the info I'm finding online. Is it common to have these faint/thin lines and not be pregnant?

Playing around with it. I know. I just need to test again tomorrow!

@CatchAFallingStar: I just don't trust blue dye unless they are blaring positive. today!

Unfortunately I've had bad luck with those same exact tests too. Mine looked the same as yours and was either a false pos or a chemical. I would follow up with a FRER or dollar store test.

@CatchAFallingStar: Let us know what you see this morning!

I'm having some spotting and passed a small clot this morning (very unusual for me). Not sure what's happening. Going in for a blood test this morning to be 100% sure. Ugh. What a bummer.

Blue dye tests are pretty notorious for evap lines. Since you had to apply a bunch of filters to see anything, and the FRER was stark white, I think you can be confident it was negative. Since you're 14 dpo you're likely just starting your period. Some minor clotting isn't unusual so I wouldn't worry about it much unless you have large or painful to pass clots.

I just still can't believe this isn't real. After LOTS of research, I found that if the line is narrow and grey, it's an evap. If it's blue and shows up within 2 minutes, it's positive. Mine was blue and showed up within about a minute. What the heck?!

@Truth Bombs: yeah, you're probably right. I was always under the impression that "a line is a line" but, I guess not!! I could see the line in person but it didn't really show up on photos without filters.

@CatchAFallingStar: In my experience, if the line is concentrated on one side, like yours was, it's probably a false positive. If the line is light, but the regular thickness it's probably real. I had a blue dye test that looked just like yours and showed in the test period and I started my period the night after I took the test. I had a blood test that came back negative, so it was not a true positive.

I'd rather see this than what I saw yesterday. My heart was so happy for the 10 minutes I thought it was real! Oh well, moving on now. Thank you all for your support.
