I have to transition Olive to a milk, and I've decided on goat milk (not raw as raw milk is apparently illegal in the State of New York).
I've never tried goat's milk. Have you? Anyone else give their lo goat's milk?

I haven't given it to my son but when my dogs were puppies and had an upset stomach I would always give them a little goat's milk.

I'm planning on sheep's milk, since it's even healthier for the little ones. I have had goat's milk before though... it's not bad. I don't love it.

I babysat for a little girl who had skin issues and the doctor recommended this for her. I could never get up the nerve to try it out, but she was happy.

When going through all our feeding issues with P I looked into giving her raw goats milk but didn't have too since we got things figured out.
I believe NY is like TX though in that raw milk can be sold from the farm but not in the store... I know realmilk.com has a list of statutes for all 50 states.
As for what we'll transition too... Idk yet. Hemp is definitely easier to get since its local but I know the goats milk would probably be the healthier choice. I figure P can drink bm until I decide. Lol

@runsyellowlites: yah you can buy raw milk straight from the farm here.
charlie drinks hemp milk and i think it tastes like crap. but he will drink any milk - cow, soy, almond, hemp.... and he has a mild dairy allergy (that he may have outgrown at this point), which is why he was on hemp.
hemp is easier for me too because my local market doesn't always carry local, pasture-raised goat's milk.

@Mrs. Bee: I haven't been able to get myself to try regular hemp milk yet. I've managed the chocolate though. Lol.

I grew up on it, as we had a goat farm. Once I discovered cow milk, it was all over for my parents, I never went back! It certainly has a different taste, so not all may find it appealing. I still absolutely hate goat milk, but love the cheese.

My BFF fed her son goats milk at one point when they couldn't figure out what kind of formula worked best for him but their GP wasn't onboard. I've never tried it but I've heard it's wonderful and is super close to human milk.

I've tried it because I almost gave it to my LOs. It tastes like goat cheese. I wouldn't drink it regularly myself, even if I like goat cheese, so despite hearing good things about it, we decided it wasn't for us.
We are doing mostly almond milk, and sometimes coconut milk for the whole family. My 18 month old still nurses 2-3 times per 24 hours and I hope to continue til she's 24 months at least!
