We didn't really do finger foods beyond puffs/mum-mums/cheerios until 9ish months. By that time, he made his interest in "real" food clear!

We started purees at 6 months. We didn't do finger foods till nine months.

We didn't (had never heard of it) but I might try this with DD #2. With DD #1 we started at 5.5 months with some rice cereal and then went onto fruits and vegs after a few days.

I did both. BLW at home and purees at daycare and when DH fed her. Started at 6 months!

I started to do purees at 4 months but he was a little, um backed up. So we held off until much closer at six months. I would love to try baby lead weaning, but I don't know enough. I didn't start fruits until he as much closer to seven months. This time around I am making my own food! (it's kind of fun!)

I made puree's for my LO. She wasn't a huge fan of solids until maybe 13 months? Now she eats like a cow!
I'll most likely do BLW for baby 2.

We didn't do BLW. I didn't know much about it so we just did purees. We started them at 5 months. I really wish I had known more about it. I plan on trying it with any future LOs.

Not doing BLW. Gave him rice cereal for first time tonight and he liked and knew what to do. He was 4 months a week ago. Ped said ok to start rice cereal and purres. May give him some bananas this weekend. Not rushing anything.

LO had rice cereal for the first time at 4 months. She wasn't a huge fan so I started purees a few weeks later and she loved them.

We started with purees at 5 months but he really didn't take to them for a couple of weeks. Now at 7 months we do 3 meals where breakfast and dinner are purees (yogurt/cottage cheese with fruits and veggies and sometimes meats) and lunch is more finger foods and when I introduce new stuff (kind of my blw meal :)).

We did rice cereal at 5 months and purees a couple weeks later. She had a really strong gag reflex so anything not super smooth would make her gag. She's grown out if it and we're giving her a little bit more chunkier foods now.

We are going to do a semi-BLW approach, we will do a little rice cereal to start, then do a mix of purees and soft steamed finger shaped foods. Like everything else about parenting, I resist doing any particular approach exclusively (LOL)

we started with a mix of BLW and purees starting at 6-months... then did full on BLW at 8-months. a great resource for me was http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/
i steamed pretty much everything, blended it in a blender, and froze it - add more water/formula/breastmilk if you want a thinner consistency. avocados and bananas i just mashed with a fork and added some milk/water as needed. froze everything in ice cube trays and stored them in ziploc baggies.

I don't. We started rice cereal at 4.5 months, but she didn't really know what to do so we held off until she was over 5 months. I've been pureeing all her fruits and veggies. I'll usually spend a day pureeing and freeze everything into 1 oz cubes.

Ha! I hear ya, that cracked me up- so true!
We just do whatever is most convenient at the time, sometimes it is purees, sometimes it is something off our plates, sometimes it is Mum mums.

We did a mix of things. We started purees and some finger foods at 6 months. If you are breastfeeding, there is no reason to start sooner per the WHO. We did give a few bites of things to gum ahead of 6 months but not in any real intentional way. LO was really ready at 6 months and we gradually added a meal with every month. Have fun with food! It is very entertaining!

We did a mix because we needed to start foods around 5 months due to hungriness. We used a formula that was staged and we couldn't increase to the next level until 6 months, so we started with orange vegetables to tank up our son.
