At 14.5 weeks DD still refuses the bottle. I was looking at sippys yesterday and saw one labeled for 4 mo+. Anyone have success with sippys early on? If so, please tell me all about it and what brands are favorites!

We started using a straw cup (I think the first cup we got was a Zoli) around 6 months. She had a easier time w/that than a sippy cup. I'm not sure how successful she would have been at using a straw cup at 4 months, though...

I did with D and plan to with M. I started at 4 months with D for the same reason...he wouldn't take a bottle. I started letting him experiment with breast milk in the cup and it didn't take long for him to figure it out.
We used the Nuby brand cups.

@fussygal: yes! We had great success right at 4 months. She took to the sippy the first try and we put all our bottles away. Bottles were such a struggle for us. We switched to straw at 10 months but the sippy was a lifesaver for us until then because I was back at work from 7-10 months and DH was home with her. Not sure what we would have done if not for the sippy success.

We are kind of in the same boat. LO hasn't taken a bottle since 6 weeks (she's 8 months now). I SAH and when I have had to leave (which has been rare), she's refused the bottle. She drinks water out if her Zoli straw cup (well, sips a bunch and spits it back out), so I don't think I'm bothering with a bottle.

We started a sippy around 5.5 months when we started solids. Just water. She wouldn't take breastmilk from it! She never took a bottle after that first wk.

She has never really taken a bottle, so we started sippy cups and straw cups at 6 months. She loves her straw cup now!

Interesting idea! We liked the Nuby sippy's... hmmm, we may consider doing this with E!

@Dandelion: @delight oh, good to know you had success! I've heard good things about Nuby.
@ms.janedoe: Sorry you're dealing with it, too! That's the same reason I want to try - I'm on mat leave until August but need her to take something for my mom who will be watching her!

We started a sippy at six months with water. I think he would have gotten it earlier, but I couldn't handle wasting the milk so he could practice. Once he's 12 months I'm planning to let him practice with WCM.
It really helped to start off with a cup with a silicone spout. The water would come out when he bit it, so he figured it out pretty quickly. Once he got it, we settled on the Mam sippy cup, which has a firmer spout.

We never used bottles and started with a zoli straw cup at 6 months. She took to it right away, which surprised me!
