I have an OPK question for you ladies...do you count an OPK as positive when the test line is as dark as the control line or when it is darker? Yesterday's was as dark, but today's is darker, so I don't know which one to count!

@periwinklebee: Yeah I'm really struggling with worrying about every.single.thing. I need to calm down because it's not like we can control anything other than when we have sex.

@jodyblair: I would count today's if the test line is darker than the control!

    @Mrs.Panda: I'm so sorry
My betas through Quest were $140 a piece, which is ridiculous. Luckily my insurance covered almost all of it.

@mrskansas: Same. I just made myself a cup of mint tea. Breathing deeply. It spills over into worrying about every little thing at work, etc. I'm gonna use this as an opportunity to improve my stress management techniques, darn it, i will get something useful out of this experience...

So in my craziness I went home over lunch so we could BD again since I finally have fertile CM. I really wanted to take the OPK but I held out!!
My gas bill goes up considerably during the fertile time of the month since I live 30 miles from work, lol

@periwinklebee: You definitely learn how to manage stress, lower expectations, deal with grief and loss and learn absurd amounts of patience. Those are all valuable lessons, but I didn't think I would gain all of this from trying to make a baby.

Do you know if you're going to try this next cycle?

@jodyblair: I would count the day that it's darker than the control line!

@Mrs. Oreo: My poor husband though. He was not really into it but I told him I would take him out for a beer this weekend if he could make it happen, haha.

@mrskansas: That's a good deal! Now the dreaded TWW?!

  12. mrskansas

    nectarine / 2813 posts

@Mrs. Oreo: If I get a + OPK tonight I'll probably ovulate tomorrow. So I still have a couple more days till the TWW

@periwinklebee: @mrskansas: Thanks ladies. I need to just calm down and see what tomorrow's betas show. Even if it is a blighted ovum, it is what it is. I say that now, but I'm sure I will return to sad/freak out mode soon.

    Thank you all!

@Mrs. Oreo: @mrskansas: That's kind of what I figured, but I was hoping I would ovulate today. I feel like the TWW is already dragging and it hasn't even started!

@jodyblair: Right there with you! I bet you will ovulate tomorrow though so hang in there!

@Mrs. Oreo: That's where it gets complicated...we're using the shettles method to try for a girl, so you're supposed to BD 3-4 days before ovulation to conceive a girl. The more delayed ovulation is, the less likely we are to conceive since we stopped BDing a few days ago. Hopefully O-4 will do the trick for us, but I will be really surprised if it does.

@jodyblair: Oooh I think I saw you mention that. Interesting! Fingers crossed it lines up for you

@Mrs. Oreo: Thanks! I'm currently googling success stories from people getting pregnant from BD 4 days before ovulation.

@jodyblair: have you heard of the o+12 method for ttc a girl? You got me curious so I found it googling! Apparently it's part of the impatient woman's guide and says you should have sex something like 8-20 hrs after ovulation...the study involved all of 33 couples (I think) though...so yeah.

  25. mrskansas

@jodyblair: Did you have any fertile CM the last time you BD'd?

  26. Mrs. Oreo

    pear / 1677 posts

@2littlepumpkins: Wow, that's so calculated. Not sure if DH or I can do something like that. I want our first baby to be a girl. My method is to give a pep talk to DH's boys, kind of like a motivational speaker. Just kidding. Kind of.

  27. jodyblair

    kiwi / 611 posts

@2littlepumpkins: I've never heard of that. I'll add it to my list of things to google
@mrskansas: Yes, I had lots of fertile CM so hopefully that will help! I seem to have EWCM for like 4 or 5 days. So weird.

  28. mrskansas

@jodyblair: That's awesome! My RE said that sperm can survive up to 5 days in the right environment.

@bees_knees: Thank you! The more I'm reading, the less I believe shettles knew what he was talking about

@jodyblair: my aunt had three boys and then a girl and SWEARS by Shettles. I like to remind her it's a 50/50 chance regardless 😜 If this cycle doesn't work out for you (but I truly hope that's not the case!), you should research diet changes to alter vaginal pH. For some reason that makes more scientific sense to me!

@mrskansas: Damn girl I'm always impressed w/ your BD commitment! No freaking way would I leave work in the middle of the day. But DH and I also work the same schedule so that's a non-issue for us.

Just got a warning that my co-worker's fiance is coming in with their 6-month-old baby in a little over an hour. Really hoping I can get my work done and not be here.

I have started taking my lunch at random times when I know there will be a baby in the office.

I had to do too many proof of pregnancy visits today. It's fine when the babies are wanted, but it's hard when they flat out tell you that they aren't keeping it. So so hard.

ETA: I'm all for pro-choice. It's not about that.

@Mrs.Panda: Oh wow, that would be really tough. I can't remember, are you a NP or a PA? Or neither? My memory is not working well lately.
