@shopaholic: I will get one this weekend. I am going to try every darn one at Target!

@Smurfette: The small ones are just open on top. But these bigger ones are kind of like the Zoli straw - soft, with an "X" slit on the top. Hopefully they work!

@yellowbird: ok, just got this and so far no leaks but you have to suck really hard to get anything out. Even hard for me. Have you experienced that???

Update:
1)Munchin ($3 at Target) in the bins on the bottom shelf. Doesn't leak but it was hard for DH and I to suck to get anything out. So we cut a small hole in the inside, much better. Only DH cut it a little big, it would leak when R left it on the floor. She doesn't like it though. Just would chew on it and not really drink. Will try again once she cuts these 2 teeth.
2) Target V-Day Bird cup. $3. Has the slit straw like the Zoli. It leaked when turned over, but at least not while just sitting on the counter. But R didn't like it.
Apparently she only drinks from a Zoli or B. Box.
Going to just wait a month before we try the Nubi we bought.

When we moved our belongings overseas I forgot to take one sippy cup out for my youngest and ended up buying this straw sippy at random at Whole Foods:

Surprisingly, it hasn't leaked at all. The ONE time it leaked was the other week and that was due to user error. I was in a rush to close it and leave that I didn't close it the right way. It was on crooked and half of his water leaked out into my diaper bag. Luckily it was water and I didn't have anything that couldn't just hang dry or wiped dry. Highly recommend and they give you an extra part of the straw (the mouth part). It's slim unlike some of the sippies that are wide and won't fit into stroller cup holders like ours.

@Smurfette: Did you ever try any others?? I'm in straw cup hell.

@Mrs. Blue: Nope! Luckily she started trying to steal another LO's at day care. So we are using Nuby sippy cups now and they are working ok.

@Mrs. Blue: I just bought some playtex anytime. My munchkins started to leak. I got a two pack for $8 at target. So far so good but it's only been a few days.

With my youngest, I primarily use this ONE Green Sprouts straw sippy when we go out:
http://www.amazon.com/green-sprouts-Ounce-Aqua-Bottle/dp/B004K6LMTI
Actually like it a lot. The only times it leaked is b/c of user error. I was in a rush to close it and didn't realize I screwed the top on crooked. Luckily, all I ever put in there is water and nothing got damaged in my diaper bag even if all of the water had leaked out.
I have the Playtex straw sippies but haven't used it on my youngest yet. Probably won't? It does leak if you thrash it around but I've never had huge issues with massive leakage with those.

@Smurfette: We have those, but they are SO hard to drink out of! We tried giving them to the boys and they couldn't get anything out of the straw.
@MamaJ: That's what we have been using. They worked great for a couple months, but they've started leaking even when they're sitting on the counter now.
@erwoo: Ahh, those are cute! I may give them a try.

Every cup we have tried leaks. At this point we have settled with the momma straw cups because they rarely leak (especially when she throws them).

@Smurfette: Oh, I see. I've about decided to just use regular sippies for milk anyway since the straws are a pain to clean. I'll try those!

@Mrs. Blue: That was part of my reason for trying a sippy verses a straw again. She gets water in either kind but milk is only in the sippy, which can go in the dishwasher. Holla!

@Smurfette: The ThinkBaby works pretty well for us. Still leaks but a lot less than the Zoli! I wish there was a smaller size for LO 2!

@Mrs. Blue: They are really cute! I got it at Whole Foods for $8? I'm thinking about getting a second one and just saw this one for the same price just now: http://www.amazon.com/green-Sprouts-Aqua-Bottle-Ounce/dp/B00G4DV9J8/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I just remembered that it does sometimes have pressurized leakage when you flip the top open. It doesn't bother me since I just use it with water. But I can see why some parents don't like it if it's milk or other drinks.

after going through a gazillion straw cups, i settled on the lollacup straw cup. it has a vent hole so it will leak out of that hole if its upside down, but it doesn't leak enough to bother me. and i think cups need a vent hole, or else u get the weird suction issues/milk coming out of the straw issues which i ran into with the playtex ones.
@Mrs. M: i used to think momma straw cup was the best cup ever until i realized there was mildew under the lid. did you find a way to clean under the lid?? i might just be a dummy tho. seriously i was prying the lid open to clean under it, which ended up breaking it anyway.

@kodybear: We haven't had this issue yet, but we've only been using them for 2 months or so. Bummer...I figured they were too good to be true lol! I'm going to have to do some research. Who would have known that straw cups would be such a pain! Thanks for the FYI!

@Mrs. M: i didn't realize the mildew was there til like a couple months in when i started smelling it whenever she used the cup!! i felt so bad for LO!! but i don't know, maybe it was the way i was washing? i handwash, but maybe not thorough enough, or maybe dishwashing helped? i'm not sure bc it seems like not many people ran into this issue on amazon.

Has anyone tried Safe Sippy? I'm curious about the best non plastic options.

@Seattlemom: I asked about safe sippy in this thread awhile back:
http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/best-stainless-steel-sippy-cup-or-bottle-for-a-toddler
I ended up getting the Foogo that many recommended. It will leak if my 1 year old shakes it vigorously upside down but my older child has never had his leak. I have a friend who has the safe sippy and she says it will leak if tipped over or shaken. I like that the Foogo has a top vs. the safe sippy that doesn't.
