LO is in preschool and they don't really have many rules for what they can't wear. I usually send her in leggings or sweats to keep it easy for the bathroom though, since she struggles with jeans...but lots of kids wear jeans. I don't send shoes that tie, for the same reason...I don't want her teachers to have to tie her shoes along with 17 other kids. So I just try and send her in easy items, but no official rules!

No rules about what she can wear, but they are strict about what she has to have in her cubby (extra clothes). Her preschool is play based and they are out a lot, so she's only in comfy, practical clothes. The girls her age had a thing about only wanting to wear dresses, so they implemented a Friday dress up day - when they can wear their frilliest dresses. On a normal day, she's usually in a long-sleeved dress with tights.
I should add that no matter what they wear, they're outside completely covered up in the same outdoor clothes.

No rules. I usually send LO in nicer clothes - khaki pants with a simple shirt or button down shirt. I notice lots of leggings and sweats for comfort.

They prefer them not to wear fancier shoes - mostly sneakers so they're comfy and can play.

No open toed shoes because they have mulch on the playground.
Dresses are supposed to have bloomers or shorts underneath.

No open shoes or fancy "dress up" shoes. They try to go outside every day so they need to be able to play in their clothes.

No violent characters! This isn't a problem for us since we don't buy much character clothing, but I think it's a bit overkill.
Kids are suppos d to take on/off their own shoes and pants so I kee those pretty easy.

I see kids in belts on jeans with buttons and zippers and just can't imagine what the parents are thinking. So much work for a potty-training child!

No open toe shoes. They prefer closed-back, too, but they can be just a strap on the back.
@mediagirl: I occasionally send him in wearing jeans and I always feel bad, but he's intent on learning how to zip/button. Usually it's pull-on cargo-like pants, or sweat pants, just for the ease when using the toilet. One little kid always comes in wearing jeans with a belt, though!

She's still in the toddler room, which has no rules, but the preschool at our daycare does not allow any characters at all. While I sort of get it, I am sad for my LO because she loves her character clothes so much. I think there may also be a rule against hats inside and open toed shoes as well.
They tried to implement a full uniform policy last month though and apparently the parents revolted.

No open toed shoes or flip flops for the kids' safety. They play outside every day (or inside in a large play room) where they're able to run freely, and they're a trip hazard!

No rules, but his classroom teachers did once tell us that they hated his high top lace up Cons because they were hard to get on, so we started saving those for weekends.

LO's school prefers families to avoid sending kids to school in clothes with commercialized characters (part of the Reggio philosophy.) But this is just a suggestion, not a rule.

No rules so far except to keep in mind clothing needs to be "not difficult" for the teachers who change the diapers all day.

They only ask that they wear sneakers, but I think any closed shoes are fine.

Our daycare only has an open-toe shoe rule until preschool. Preschoolers are in uniforms, which I am a huge fan of. Khakis and polos with school logo.
