To avoid a Dec/Christmas baby?
We are not actively TTC right now. Not for the reason above, but just because of our timeline.

Nope! Like you, we're not actively TTC yet, but we love having a December baby! I'm a little concerned about having Christmas and two birthdays, but I'll take little ones whenever I get them.

I conceived in march and had a turkey baby!
Eta: one year ago today so not far into March I guess.

I am still going to TTC in March, a December birthday wouldn't be my first choice, but if it means I get a baby than so be it! I'm sure it will be great no matter what.

I conceived in March as well, and had a December baby. It was our first month TTCing so I didn't think we had a chance, but my son was really meant to be.

We are still trying, it's our last try before we start fertility treatments. So, last big bang au natural!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I would like to, but we won't bc I rather get KU than not! Plus I might not get KU anyway and I would regret not trying! I don't want a winter/year end baby in general but I can't wait that long!

We are waiting to TTC #1 until May and part of the reason is because I would prefer not to have a baby around the holidays. I love that time of year but I want my LO's birthday to be its own celebration and not in the middle of the chaos of the holiday season.
pineapple / 12793 posts
Nope. If we did get pregnant this cycle it would be an early December baby. I have an early January baby and love it.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
We won't skip, but I will admit that it's not my favorite idea ever (my EDD would be December 6th). Not necessarily because of the holidays, but because I am a spoiled brat after my last mat leave and I want to be out during the spring again!

We're going to NTNP. A good portion of my income comes from holiday sales, so it would help financially if I could keep working in November/December.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
Nope, we're continuing to try this month. A December birthday isn't ideal, and if we got pregnant this month, it's sort of the "worst" timing in terms of some other planning, upcoming trips, etc., so I'm secretly hoping that a la Murphy's Law we'll get pregnant this cycle

@oliviaoblivia: DD is also a January babe. I would not have planned it that way, but it ended up being incredible! Great time for mat leave, something to look forward to/celebrate in the doldrums of January, nice spacing with other family birthdays... I wouldn't mind one bit having that all over again.

Nope, we are hoping to jump right in this cycle! I just had my first pp period (almost 16 months in the waiting!) and also have an appointment at a fertility clinic mid month. I'm hoping that some way or another we can get this show on the road

Yep. I considered the holidays when I scheduled my next FET.
nectarine / 2433 posts
After 2.5 years of trying/treatments we won't be skipping any months! I remember when we first started trying we skipped March for this reason, now I couldn't care less!
grapefruit / 4085 posts
Not trying now but we conceived in March and have a mid-Dec baby.
pear / 1697 posts
Sorta. Going to avoid intercourse near ovulation or at least pnp mid-march through early may. We would be okay if I got preggers despite half-assed avoidance, but, we're not going to work at it either.

I always thought a December baby would be great. Such a special time of the year and cozy.
With that said, I think we'll be out from trying in March b/c I'm having lap surgery.
nectarine / 2086 posts
I'm so torn. I wouldn't mind having an early December baby, but my des would be Dec 19th. And with first pregnancies going late, I bet id have an Xmas day baby! Oy!
nectarine / 2079 posts
Yes. My next cycle would put my EDD Dec 25-28th (depending on ovulation and when I actually start) so I plan to skip it!
persimmon / 1388 posts
Not really...sort of? We're NTNP this cycle, but not because of a potential holiday due date. December-February being the busiest time of the work year for me + TTC exhaustion = NTNP for a bit!

not TTC but J is a December (12/17) baby, conceived my birthday 3/22
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Nope! My niece is a 12/27 baby and I think a Christmas baby would be special!
pomegranate / 3314 posts
I'm waiting until the next couple of months pass. Don't want a December baby and really would not like a Jan or Feb baby after this miserable winter. My LO was born in late May and that was a lovely time, so I wouldn't mind that again
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
I conceived on March 6th and had my baby on 11/26. We are waiting to TTC the next one for a number of reasons, but partly because I don't want another winter baby. March 2015 is the soonest I'm willing to have #2 be due.
nectarine / 2834 posts
I don't think so. But as I haven't gotten my period since my m/c, March may be awash for us. But we're going back to our ways pre-m/c and just having fun and NTNP.
kiwi / 548 posts
We are getting ready to try, but because I ovulate at the end of the month it would be due right at Xmas. I wouldn't care if this were #1, but would rather be able to focus on the Christmas excitement with my toddler and preschooler than bring preoccupied with watching for signs of labor or maybe not be around to share it with them.
pomegranate / 3779 posts
We aren't TTC right now, but I wouldn't skip a month. I'd rather not have a Dec/Jan/Feb baby because 9 out of 15 of our immediate family birthdays are in that time period, but if we have a baby then, I think we would just celebrate 1/2-Birthdays instead.

I would LOVE next years christmas present to be a gorgeous little newborn but we are taking this month off due to instruction from our fertility clinic.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
I love my December baby!!! But I'm not ready for another just yet
pineapple / 12566 posts
I conceived BOTH of my babies in March, but one of them decided to arrive a few weeks early so she ended up being a November baby.

Prior to ttc, I always said we would and still would like to. Dh doesn't want to skip however, an after 4 months so far I can see his point! But, we will see as he is going out of town during fertile week again this month.
