DH and I are both in essential industries. We pay a daycare teacher to come to our house to watch our three LOs 7-3 M-F since one of us is physically at work M-F. My hours worked out this week that I will be done at 11:30 on Friday while WFH. Is it wrong if I just stay in my office and play some computer games or watch Netflix until 3? We pay the same flat rate if she stays a half hour or if she stays the full 8. But I kind of feel weird taking me-time because I know even just having childcare at this point is taboo.

Do it. I have not had a break in two weeks (working from home full time and both kids home) and my mental health is suffering. I told DH last night that I absolutely have to have a break this weekend to either go for a long walk or bike ride. If I stay at home my kids are still on top of me no matter how many times I tell them I need a break.

Do it. You’re using the childcare anyway - having her there extra hours doesn’t increase your exposure. Actually, it probably decreases it because she’s not working with another family/being out and about when she’s not with you!!

Do it! I am feeling a little guilty because I have some childcare through a tiny loophole/bit of grace where my childcare provider offered a very special and very limited opportunity, but I am using the time for work and well, alone time, so that I can be a better parent when I am with DD. May we all enjoy the occasional bit of cheer where we can, since we are in this for the long haul!

@PinkElephant: Suuuuuch a good point. There is also the possibilty that I won't need childcare at all next Friday but to avoid her going to other families I will keep her on.

Do it! You are a priority too and honestly I am jealous. I could use some me time. DH has been home this week (I was on my own last week) and I have been sitting in the office even when I am done just to get a few minutes of peace.

Do it! I stay home with the kids and get small breaks during preschool hours and I’m dying for some alone time right now. Haha.

You must do this, no question.
I'd also consider just going for a walk or jog outside all by myself. But computer games and Netflix is fine too! Just don't fritter it away reading depressing stories about the virus like I probably would!
