I'm so sad! I expressed a 5oz bottle of breast milk on Thursday and put it all the way in the back of my fridge. Today is a Sunday and I smelled it and it smelled perfectly fine, but when I tasted it, omg it was AWFUL! It definitely has gone bad even though it smells perfectly fine. I usually never taste my bm before giving it to her but I'm so glad I did this time. And I know I have given her 3 day old milk before too. It might of been bad all those other times and I didn't know it (because I relied on the sniff test). Now I'm sad I have to toss out a full 5oz bottle! 
When does your milk go bad? Do you do the sniff and/or taste test?

Do you remember what you ate that day? Your food can affect the taste and smell of your milk, so if you had something garlicky or another strong flavor, it's possible it just made your milk smell like that and it wasn't actually bad.

Mine starts smelling off by 3 days. It sucked when I realized that because I had just relied on the 3-6 day range for refrigerated milk and I had def frozen some after it had been sitting in the fridge for 3 days. I didn't know which ones in my stash were bad!

@dandelion: Hmm I don't really remember but I'm pretty sure I didn't eat anything out of the ordinary. The milk tasted definitely straight up spoiled. Gag!!!
@sleepymonkey: I know that sucks right? I read that five days in fridge is okay too so I always just gave it to her as long as it smelled okay. And then when you defrost your frozen milk, doesn't that smell funny too? I read it's normal for frozen milk to taste/smell different than fresh expressed milk so I've always just given it to her and she takes it, but now I kind of want to taste it and see the difference!
