I looked for "bathroom breaks charting temps" and didn't see anything in search.
When do you take your temp? I usually wake up around 4 something to use the bathroom and then I go back to sleep until 5:45ish.

You are supposed to try for 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I had a problem of waking up naturally starting at 5 AM and then kind of snoozing off and on until I woke up for the day - I ended up just taking my temperature at 5 AM everyday. It sounds like if you always wake-up at 4 AM you could just re-jig your temp time to be then.

This is why temping never worked for me. My wake up to pee is never at the same time, so there was no way for me to get a temp at a consistent time AND following 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

I get up most nights to pee between 3-4:30 and then am up for the day at 5:30 or 6 depending on if it is a workout day. I have still been able to pinpoint ovulation and my philosophy is that my chart is "good enough" not perfect. I do write a note on the day in ff so I can go back and discard if needed but so far it hasn't seemed to be a big problem.

I would take my temp after whatever was my longest stretch of sleep. So if I got up in the middle of the night, as long as I had slept for 3 hours, I'd temp then. ESPECIALLY if I thought I wasn't going to get an additional 3 hours after going back to bed!

Like op's, I temp whenever I've had 3+ hrs of sleep. I often wake up somewhere between 3:50 & 4:30a, temp, take my thyroid meds (which have to be 30-60 min before food, then go back to sleep until either 5:20 during the week or 7ish on the weekend & it has been good enough to get data on ff (with opk's). Maybe if all I did was temp it'd be too erratic, & I often get open circles, but the temps don't seem to fluctuate simply based on the time I temped.

My charting is more in line with @MamaCate: theory. It's not perfect but I've never had any issues reading my chart either. I temp when my alarm goes off around 5:45-6am even if I go to the bathroom an hour or so before then. The only time I usually temp earlier is if I wake up and go to the bathroom around 5:15 or 5:30. I find that a temp taken around 3:30am won't be as accurate anyways.

Thanks! Ugh, I forgot to take my temp today....my thermometer was next to my alarm clock and glasses.

Thinking of this thread this morning as LO came in to wake me up at 5:50 to fix something in her room. I got up, talked to her, tucked her back in, and lay back down for 10 minutes until my alarm went off. Temp was only .04 different from yesterday when I stayed in bed. So for me it doesn't seem like a huge deal breaker!
