We are gearing up to move our 2-year old into a big girl bed. Due to logistics, she will be moving from her crib to a queen size bed. I'm looking at bedding options and wondering what would be best from a laundry/care standpoint? I am mostly seeing quilts and duvet covers, but I imagine somewhere I could probably find a regular comforter.
Thoughts?

DD1 has a single bed, but we use a duvet with a cover - easy to wash if it gets dirty and easily changeable!

DD1 has a single bed and we got a thin comforter from Target. Easy to throw in the wash and not too heavy (she runs warm)

N is still in a crib but sleeps with a quilt that his departed grandmother made. We also have a larger one for when he moves to a big kid bed.

Does she get hot in the night? We will probably go with a comforter rather than quilt or duvet when we do this as DD seems to prefer it cooler.

LO has a quilt for the warmer months and an Ikea comforter/duvet cover for when it is colder. Ikea has them rated by warmth, so I have a light weight one since we live in a warmer climate.

Bedding is my nightmare, lol. I currently have flannel sheets, a thin microfiber blanket and a comforter on my son's bed. I just ordered a Primaloft blanket, though. I figure I can just pop it in the wash and dry it if he has an accident in bed, as opposed to down.

She uses two quilts and I like that I can easily wash both every week.

@Andrea: The quilts are holding up well to washing? Do you use two at one time, or do you mean you have two that you alternate? Do you mind saying where you got the quilt? Thanks!
@looch: I like the Primaloft ones at the Company Store... was thinking about something like that. I'm also going to check Ikea. I have a down alternative one from there that washes well... I'd prefer not to have to wash a duvet cover as well as whatever is in it, so I'm thinking a colored down alternative blanket/comforter, thin comforter, or quilt might be easiest. LO is not fully potty-trained yet at night.

@78h2o: Yep, that's the one I ordered. Cost me $99. I got it in garnet, to coordinate with the linens I ordered from PB Kids, that has yet to make it onto the bed....maybe I should just do it!

We got her a duvet with cover, but she prefers to use her micro fleece blanket!

I would do a washable quilt. I loathe washing duvets! That was it is just one item to wash (aside from sheet). For our LO I plan to get a washable wool blanket.

@78h2o: Sorry, I just saw that I didn't answer the first part of your question! Yes, they are holding up very well and she's been in her bed now for over two years. You could also wash on a gentle cycle if you are worried, but I just use regular!
