Dd started daycare wed (I go back to work Monday) and has absolutely refused a bottle. She was there 4 hrs, 7 hrs, and 9 hrs wed, thurs, will be today. Wed thurs they could only get her to take 1 oz. we introduced the bottle two weeks ago and wouldn't take it then.
Currently use dr browns. Hoping maybe a more boob shaped bottle will help. I go back to work Monday and can't come up to feed her like I'm doing at the moment...

Our LO refused Dr Browns and Avent but liked Lansinoh mOmma with milk heated so it was pretty hot.

I am having this same problem with LO#2 right now. I still have 4 weeks before I go back so I'm currently troubleshooting. My first kiddo did great with the Medela Calma which is $ but supposed to mimic a real breast. This LO doesn't do too well with it though. My sister said her lactation consultant told her to get The First Years Breastflow bottles because they are wide like a real breast too. I currently have them on order, but haven't received them yet. So no real answer but a couple of options to try.

We've had great luck with tommee tippee. We haven't had any issue switching from bottle to breast and LO takes then without problem.

@Amelieisme: the girl who works here in the nursery just mentioned the first years bottle! A starter pack is 20$ at Walmart so I might go for that. She said the flow sprays like a nipple.. Making a stop at bru after this.

we had a ton of luck getting LO to take bottles from the mOmma bottles when she was younger. they legit look just like a boob lol.

Tommee Tippee always worked great for my LO. I felt like the base was must wider and therefore more natural.

M ended up liking the Tommee Tippee, as well. She would suck in the nipple but we would just pull it out, pop it back out and let her go back at it again.

D loved the Tommee Tippee bottles - I registered for them specifically because they seemed shaped like a boob and I thought it would help avoid nipple confusion. We never had a problem at all. I heard from a friend of mine whose kid refused EVERYTHING that the only thing that worked for them was the mOmma.

@matador84: LO was on a bottle strike for months and tommee tippee eventually worked. I actually think the temperature of the milk had a big impact, too. She prefers it pretty warm. Once we figured that out she took it easily and has been fine since.

DS isn't picky when it comes to bottlesbut we haven't had any problems switching between Tommee Tippee, Comotomo, and the boob.

I've seen comotomo and I think it's promising.
Are you using the Dr Browns wide mouth nipples? Apparently those are more similar to the breast?
I also know some people have luck with Tommee Tipee.

We've registered for the Avent Naturals starter set (4 bottles, 2 small, two large) because a number of moms we know have said that was the only bottle their babies would take and they are easy to put together. I also registered for different nipples with different flow rates to see if that would help. They don't cost very much so I thought we'd try those before moving on to more expensive ones!

I've spent a ton of money on different bottles. I know use the Lansinoh ( which were like $2 on sale! ) We also have tommee tippee that she will take as well. I ended up making the hole in the nipple slightly bigger as well which seemed to help.

@matador84: we buy the standard Dr Brown's but they do have wide neck bottles/nipples. I just recently did a survey for them and asked them about the wide neck nipples and they said many did use them for breastfed babies. But if I remember right they'd have to be a whole new bottle, collar, nipple.

@NovBaby1112: @Pirouette: I assume you mean the combination of bottle and nipple is most boob-shaped? They redesigned the bottle (not the nipple) so it is now normal shaped! I went out and bought a full set of 8 new bottles because I hated the round shape of the old style.

@matador84: good luck! I just wanted to chime in and say that I also think the temp of the milk make a big difference. Both my kids like(d) it pretty warm. FWIW we have only ever used TT bottles and have never had any confusion.

@danda: haha i meant the nipple...i mean i agree the bottle is shaped boob-like but i assumed that wouldn't make a difference to the baby. but that's interesting about the new bottles, i hadn't heard about them! How do you like them? my only issue with the bottle is that it's hard to get the last bit out of the bottle because of the shape...are these better? and are the nipples interchangeable between the bottles?

I use the momma or evenflo those are the only two he takes. I got the momma bottles from Walmart and at first they were marked down to $7 for a two pack so I just bought one to try and he lived it so I went back to buy more and the were marked down to $2 a pack so I bought all that they had left which was 7 packs lol. He also only drink the milk if it's warm so when bottle feeding him I have to run it under warm water.

@Pirouette: The nipples are interchangeable and I find it much easier to get the last bit out. Also, the markings are printed in purple so the volumes are much easier to read. Additionally, they fit better in the cooler and in the daycare fridge...so overall I am thrilled with the new design for the bottle.

We ended up having to use Playtex Drop-Ins with the brown (latex) nipples.

To protect your breastfeeding latch you should use bottles with a gentle slope from nipple to bottle. Most of the "breast like" bottles are terrible for this, it is all about marketing and not about good feeding principles. Advent, and Born free are horrible. Dr Brown (narrow opening, the wide is horrible) and Momma are good.

@matador84: Checking in to see if you found a bottle that worked? We are still troubleshooting at this point but I'm starting to worry. I still have a month but would put my mind at ease if LO would start taking a bottle. How's it going for you and LO?

@Amelieisme: we are having success with TT bottles. She still will only take 1-2 oz at a time, but if they wait and reintroduce she finishes the bottle. Yay!

@matador84: we use playtex with the drop in liners and lo can go back and forth between breast and bottle. She will even take a bottle from me with no problems with confusion.
