My little baby is turning 3 this weekend!! (WHAT???)
I'm going to double-check with daycare to see what they will allow (I know things like no peanuts), but I'd like to bring a treat for his class on Friday, and was curious what other people brought as a treat. Especially if you have pictures!

We have just done cupcakes (nut free) and decorated the tops, last year I put "2s" on them all and the kids always love cupcakes! Rice Krispy treats are usually a hit too. :). Happy birthday to your LO!

This might require a little work to find but my mom found these really cute number cookie cutters and makes simple butter cookies for the kids' birthday parties. They're really cute.

Cupcakes from the grocery store. LO and I went on a special trip so she could pick them out the night before (she picked hello kitty and Spider-Man I think). This was for her third birthday too. I know some of the summer birthdays have done Popsicles or frozen treats so that might be good if it is hot where you are?

We did mini cupcakes (has to be store bought) and applesauce pouches. Along with napkins, plates, and party hats. Some parents bring juice too.

What about cupcakes in ice cream cones? My mom used to make them for me when I was little, and they were a big hit.

I brought in vegan mini cupcakes (food allergies) and juice for LO's birthday. Policy states that only store bought is allowed.

My mother in law is a daycare teacher and DH' aunt is the director of the same daycare and while they don't refuse any birthday treats except for the allergy kids, they are always like PLEASE GOD SEND RICE KRISPY TREATS. I guess it's fine to sprinkle the tops with sprinkles or something but they hate dealing with the mess of chocolate and frosting and it makes the kids berserk especially if juice comes with it or something.

As a teacher (K-4) I HATE when kids bring in cupcakes. They don't know how to eat them, they don't stay over the table, and it's just a huge mess. Cookies, rice krispie treats, brownies, etc. I love. But I hate, hate, hate cupcakes.

We've done cupcakes and yogurt in the tubes (frozen). Our daycare requires an ingredient listing so essentially store bought. I'm thinking about doing a giant cookie cake this year. But I really like the rice krispie treat idea too.

I will do mini cupcakes with tiara sugar decorations for LO. She is on a big process kick, and since she loves helping me bake, we will make the cupcakes.

I cheated one time for LOs 2nd bday and bought the pre-made rice krispies (the packaged stuff), stuck in a Popsicle stick and drizzled them with chocolate and sprinkles. They were super cute and bakery worthy hahha.
Our daycare doesn't allow sweets so parents will bring in fruit (has to be store-bought, not cut up until you're there). I've seen some parents bring in melons.. or strawberries and blueberries in cute cups.

I always just bring mini cupcakes. We have a GF/vegan bakery steps from our house, so I pick a peanut free option, and I know everyone can eat it.
Another mom bought ice cream sandwiches, which the kids loved.

Last yr, in my older 3s, young 4s preschool class, we had 15 birthdays and all but one brought cupcakes. Didn't matter if it came from the grocery store or a fancy bakery, 95% of it went uneaten. The kids would lick the frosting a couple of times, attempt to take a bite but just make a big mess and eventually throw it away. I hated to see all of it go to waste so we kept telling parents that cupcakes are not a good option but no one listened.
One parent brought a cookie cake and that was a huge hit. Also, less of a mess!

Well his daycare teacher told me that whatever I brought had to be nut-free and store-bought. I ended up picking up a couple of boxes of Rice Krispies Treats. Hopefully the kids like them!

I love doing the cupcakes in ice cream cones. I think they're easier for the little kids to eat than regular cupcakes. We didn't have rules about store bought only though, just no peanuts.

This year was all about Curious George so I made banana "cupcakes" (really just muffins) with a honey Greek yogurt frosting. I got curious George rings and used them as cupcake toppers. 
They were a big hit!

@kiddosc: I kinda want to make this for my daughter's first birthday party; for the guests. So you bake cupcakes normally and just stick a ice cream cone on top? You bake the cone too? I assume I can use any cupcake recipe?

@regberadaisy: You put the batter in the cone and bake them that way. You just use a regular cupcakes recipe and only fill the cones up to the top of the narrow part since they rise. You may need to adjust bake time a little.
