My 3 year old came home heartbroken today because her "best friend" chose another new best friend and now she feels like she has no friends. Um, how is this starting already at 3??? I tried to explain to her you can have more than one best friend and lots of friends in general, but she didn't understand at all.
Do you have any children's book recommendations about this topic that might help?

I'm sorry yourLO is going through this. I hope she understands kids just don't really understand what they are saying at that age!

My LO had this happen recently, but they next day they were back together again. I actually arranged a play date to solidify the relationship because this girl is the only person he talks about!

'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. It's not about having many best friends, but about finding one. It's excellent for 3 year-olds.
