I had trouble breast feeding my son and stopped at 16 weeks due to lack of output in the pump (pumping 2 hours a day while at work and only making 1/6th of what he was eating).

My baby girl is 5 days old. At her follow up she had brick dust in her diaper and her weight was really down. The MD suggested that I pump after each feed for 15 minutes and feed her that or give formula supplementation. She is a really, really sleepy newborn and honestly only wants to nurse 3-5 minutes and then full on passes out. The lactation consultant told me to try and make it to a solid ten minutes by constantly agitating her and then follow up with the pumping.

Anyway, all those bottles of formula and pumped milk and girlfriend is developing a strong preference. We just fought for 25 minutes and she refused to latch. Has anyone been able to reverse this? After we gave up with breast feeding she happily took a bottle while I pumped. I pumped out 1 ounce while she ate slightly more than 1.5. I guess if a baby is more efficient than a pump she would have been satiated with me + pumping, but no dice.

I don't think I could ever maintain an exclusive pumping relationship due to my past low output and my current work situation so there will always be formula in my life. Just looking on tips to try and get her to nurse again, I didn't want to deal with such issues so long before leave was over!
