I am so mad at myself, I had my baby in October and got a prescription for a breast pump. It was a pain to get to the place to pick it up and it wasn't a huge priority so I forgot about it. Now it's the end of the year and effective tomorrow we have new insurance, it's too late to pick it up today. Can I still get one under my new insurance?

Do you have your new insurance cards yet? You could call the number on the back. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't fill the script for you. Many women probably wait until their maternity leave is close to being over to get a pump.

Go to your insurance companies website and look to see if they have a recommended supplier. Many of those allow you to order online. If you place your order before midnight you should be covered.

I have Aetna, but I think a lot of insurance companies are offered. As long as it is still sealed you can return it, so you should definitely give it a shot!

@Cole: if you can't irder it online tonight, definitely call your new insurance this week. I was able to order one with my new insurance in January, after having my baby in July. Different plans have different lengths of time you can order.

Your new insurance legally has to provide you with a pump if you do not have one. Now - your new plan could just give you a manual pump :l but they have to give you something.
Just tell them you waited to see if you'd need one and now you do.

My son was born in April, and my insurance changed in August. My previous plan didn't offer anything besides a manual, but in December I called my new company and they referred me to an in-network supplier. I filled out the online order form and the supplier contacted my OB to confirm I'd had a baby when I said I did. My pump arrived two days later. No questions asked, even though my kid was 8 months when I contacted the insurer.

Thankfully, this all worked out perfectly. My new insurance didn't hesitate at all in helping me get a pump and they even have better options than my old insurance!
. It's not the end of the world but it would have been nice to have.
