If you EBF, when did you start giving other 'milks' if ever?
If you did give other milks did you drop that nursing/pumping session all together.
If you didn't give other milks, did you nurse 5ish times a day at 1year and beyond?
I am thinking ahead here - we won't be offering other milks at 1 year due to MSPI so I plan on continuing to pump and giving him a cup of breastmilk instead of bottles.

P still doesn't get anything but breastmilk & the occasional water at 12 months. We usually bf around 5 times a day & will probably continue that for awhile! When we do introduce other liquids I think we'll be going for hemp milk, and since we just ebf as wants I don't think it'll so much mean dropping a session, rather just adding it to meals, etc..

LO is 11 months and gets breastmilk and water. She nurses 2x/day and gets a bottle of pumped milk at bedtime. Water at meals and between meals. After a year, we'll start mixing breastmilk and other milk and giving it with meals (right now she nurses after meals). Water will become her in-between meals drink.

We are still breastfeeding coming up on 2 years old because of MSPI. We were doing 5-7 nursings a day until 18 months when we started him on dairy (based on allergy testing results and other things). So that is definitely NOT unusual. At 6 months old we started our son on water in sippy and regular cups. I hate pumping so that was not an option for us. We also started supplementing with Splash at 1 year old because he was failure to thrive so he got that in a sippy cup at daycare.

Thank you for weighing in ladies. Pedi is in no rush to reinto dairy so I am not pushing it.

Thanks for this post! We are dairy free and I have been thinking about how we are going to handle breastfeeding/sippy/other liquids later on down the road:)

@mrsmenow: you're welcome! how long have you been dairy/soy free?
my LO is 9mo and we've beedn d/s free for a little over 7 months. we are not going to introduce anything until he is 18 months due to his reaction (skin and intestinal distress). i'm finding it an interesting road to navigate being a working mom!

DD got only BM/formula until 1 yo with exception of occasional water when we were training her how to use a cup.

@littlebittyhouse: LO is just about 4 months and we have been dairy free since she was 5 weeks old. I accidentally ate something with dairy at Easter and she definitely is still sensitive. I don't think we will even try again until she is atleast a year old. I have found that meals really take a lot of planning. You can't just run and grab something in a pinch.

@mrsmenow: good job catching it early! we had a slip up around 4mo too - it was awful. Spiral ham at Thanksgiving. Took me forever to figure it out.
I always carry lara bars, chocolate and a banana with me in the event I get stuck. It is so hard not being able to grab on the go!
I find with meals that I have the same 10 things on steady rotation. I will say, since I am dairy/soy free it is eaiser to feed him now that he is eating solids. A friend of mine whose DS has the same allergy has a harder time 'finding' things for him to eat because she is not as familiar with everything. So, as much as it can be a PITA sometimes its def helpful now. Also, for me anyway, it has been a fantastic way to lose the baby weight and then some ::silver lining::
