So a week ago I came down with the stomach flu. DH had had it earlier in the week and miraculously our kids didn't get it from either one of us. My fever broke on Friday night and Saturday I was feeling fine, just tired. MIL was over Thursday (before I got sick) and Sunday (after I got sick). She and FIL got sick this past week. FIL is still not feeling well, but MIL says she feels fine and would like to come over today. They were babysitting our dog this week so she's planning on bringing him back.
I'm nervous that having MIL come over could potentially get our kids sick or reinfect DH and me. She and DH think since I am breastfeeding the kids will have already received my immunity to this bug and can't get sick. I know breastfeeding provides a lot of immunological benefits, but is that really how it works? They have gotten a cold from me before, so obviously my antibodies didn't protect them then. So what would you do? Take a chance with the flu or ask MIL not to come?
As an aside for those who are FB or IG friends... So my sister had her babies on Wednesday. We were with her ILs and my parents on Tuesday and Wednesday... And yesterday her ILs got sick and this morning my parents got sick. I feel terrible and we are hoping so hard that she, her DH and the babies stay healthy!
