I understand this article is a little over a year old but it is really interesting. Someone I follow on Twitter posted it today and I really enjoyed reading it:

OMGosh that was fantastic!!! I love how they separate breastfeeding from dependence, such a big thing here... "Be careful or you'll be breastfeeding them between college classes..." I also love how they use it during disagreement between children, I think another mom might die if I did that during a play date! Bwahaha!
Thanks for sharing!

@runsyellowlites: can you imagine? Whipping your boobs out (all the women doing this???) and the kids stop fighting? Haha.

Yes! This is one of the articles that I found very reassuring. Also the origin of my adult nursing story. Thanks for resurrecting this!

@mediagirl: I almost posted this link on the thread the other day about BFing after the age of two

Yep, i remember reading this article a while ago and LOVED it.
You know what? One day she was getting into mischief, and i needed to get her away from a certain corner, so i flipped up my shirt and starting shaking my boobs. Yes, it sounds ridiculous but it worked! She scrambled over to me and forgot about god knows what.

Great article! I literally LOL'd at work while reading the part about lifting her shirt for argument resolution.

Wow! What a great article. I'm glad to hear a perspective that broadens even my horizons on breast feeding. It was interesting to see myself recoil at the idea of grandmothers offering a breast. I wonder what tht says about me?

Wow. So interesting! I followed at least one Mongolian trait w/ my breastmilk. I rubbed some on DD's eyes every morning when she was little and had blocked tear ducts. They cleared up on their own, so maybe it helped!

I haven't seen this before! Loved it. Thanks for sharing. I love how she described BFing as the lazy mom's secret weapon. That's my go to way of getting my babe to stop crying.

http://m.guardiannews.com/society/2005/jun/15/childrensservices.familyandrelationships For some more horizon-broadening. I have read about this/seen this elsewhere. It is legitimate. I think it's very fascinating and makes quite a lot of sense, but again, also something that is culturally different.

I read this a while ago and really enjoyed it. I also used my boob to lure LO away from our entertainment unit a few weeks ago..... it worked! lol!

"There we were, two mothers flapping our breasts like competing strippers trying to entice a client."
HAHAHA made me lol.
This is a great article and kinda makes me feel better about my breastfeeding decisions. I guess there's more Mongolian in me than I thought
