I have been BF for 2 months now, and still have sore nipples. The one even still bleeds sometimes. Has anyone else had sore nipples for this long? What did you do to relieve them?

I quit after a week because I couldn't take the pain. Go you for lasting so long! My friend told me that she was in pain for months.... which is partly why I decided to quit. I knew I would never be able to handle it for that long.

I had sore nipples for the entire 14 months I BF but I largely attribute it to pumping. I'd suggest seeking out a lactation consultant or La Leche League because it could be a latch issue given that you are still occasionally bleeding.

I didn't experience any soreness or bleeding.. Is your LO latching on correctly?

We just took a BF class last night and according to the LC if you are experiencing pain then likely the latch is not correct. Have you tried calling a LC?
She reaffirmed the whole night that BFing should not be painful. If it is then something is not going right.
Hope it gets better! *hugs*

Oh ouch! Mine are still sore sometimes at almost 7 weeks. But not constantly. Definitely check your latch. I use lanolin to help with relief. Lansinoh also has these gel breast pads that feel Amazing on sore nipples! They are $10 a pair but so worth it for how awesome they feel.

there is a difference between sore and PAIN. a little soreness is normal, but PAIN is not. I want to say mine were a bit sore for like 8 weeks, then it suddenly went away. Now at 9 months, no soreness at all. Try Earth Mama Angel Baby Nipple Butter, its helps with lubrication and chapping.

@Rosie Girl: i would say the worst pain was over at around 2 weeks but I definitely had some lingering pain and slight blistering/chapping in my right side for several more weeks...probably didn't completely disappear until almost 3 months. We are at 5 months now and no pain.
If it hurts a lot when baby is feeding then maybe you should try different feeding positions...this helped me a lot (now I do football hold rather than cradle). My hospital had a free breastfeeding support group that meets weekly and it's led by a lactation consultant...maybe check if a local hospital offers something similar.

I think if your nipples r bleeding, your lo is not latching properly. Try expressing breast milk and rubbing it on your nipples. Let it air dry.
