For those on maternity leave, when did you start pumping and freezing your breastmilk? How much did you stack up? I'm returning to work in a month and planning to start now. Maybe pump and freeze a bottle a day...

I started pumping when LO was three weeks old. I had a crazy amount of milk frozen when I returned to work and it made things so much less stressful for me.

I started pumping hardcore the day my milk came in. I pumped after every nursing session, pumped in the middle of the night...I think I was too obsessed. I had a lot of milk in our deep freezer when I went back to work.

I started pumping when LO was one week old because we were having major latch issues and I was so engorged. Once we got the hang of things, I would just pump the other breast in the morning and freeze that. I had a TON of milk and still do.

i started at about 1 month pp and did about 4 oz every day. then when LO started STTN, i had a lot of milk in the mornings. these days i can pump 10-12 oz in the first pump if LO doesn't eat first, 6-8 oz if she does. then we moved her bedtime up to 7:30 so i do a pump before bed. both of these pumps usually go into the freezer. i have about 350 oz stored up and LO is 3.5 months old.

I had 100 ounces but I started more than a month out. Anything is better than nothing. I pumped one side in the morning when she fed on the other side. Basically any chance I could get I tried to pump (like if she took a long nap).

Thanks ladies! How many ounces do you freeze per bag/bottle? Right now LO is 8 weeks old and taking 3oz bottles. I'm wondering if I should freeze 4oz bags/bottles in antipatipation that she will eat more when I go back to work in a month?

I would freeze 5oz bags because as she got older, she took more in her bottles. It's so nice to have that stash when you go back. You can fall back on it if you have bad pumping days/weeks! Good luck building it up!

I started freezing 4 weeks pp. 5 oz bags and ended up with about 150 oz. coming into my first day of work yesterday. I could've been more diligent about it, but I got sick of pumping and freezing and didn't keep it up my last month of maternity leave. (13 wks pp)...

I didn't start pumping to store until a week before my maternity leave was over. I had a few day's worth when I returned to work yesterday. I have low supply though, so I wanted to give as much of my milk directly to LO as possible since she gets formula otherwise.
Now that I'm back at work, I hope to pump and send the fresh milk the following day. I don't want to obsess about a freezer stash (and didn't want to waste my last precious days with my LO on my maternity leave chained to the pump).

I did 4 oz initially but have now been doing 5 oz.
I started around 6 weeks PP and was able to get a decent amount stashed away (around 100-150 oz). I now have about 225. Like others, my main source while I was on maternity was just pumping once in the morning after LO started STTN.
