Were you able to go up/down stairs after having your c-section once you got home? How did you manage a split level house?

Yup, stairs weren't a problem at all. I was home 29 hours post op. Sitting up from lying down was hard though.

Same answer as oliviaoblivia - no problem with stairs at all, but tough changing positions!

We lived in a second floor apartment and I don't remember it being a huge issue. I do agree with @oliviaoblivia: that sitting up/lying down was pretty awful at first.

No issue with stairs - couldn't run up them or anything but no problem taking it easy and going up and down

Sames as @oliviaoblivia: , stairs were no problem!
ETA....why do you ask?

I had no issues with the stairs at all. Probably the only difficult thing was turning over in bed or getting out of bed, if I wasn't being careful how I was moving.

Nope. I stayed downstairs on the couch for a week before I could handle stairs.

I had no issue with stairs either. Although I was supposed to limit myself to once up and once down per day.

I never tried. I was told I could go upstairs after a week if it was only to go to bed and get up in the morning.

@matador84: I've got a split level house!
With my first, it was hard. I had pain going up and down stairs for a good six weeks. I avoided steps if possible which was relatively easy. My husband did our laundry & I didn't have anywhere to go (and if was winter time) so I didn't leave the house.
The second time, it was just easier. I knew I could push through the pain & wouldn't tear open my stitches. I knew I wouldn't hurt myself. I knew I would be okay... And I was. I felt fantastic, to be honest. The car ride home was home. Walking in the house and up the steps was fine. I never felt like I just had a baby, where as with my first I had that sore newness feeling for weeks.

We live in a split level and stairs were fine, it was the getting in and out of bed that hurt!

Stairs were totally fine but my mom tried to get me to avoid them. Getting in and out of bed was a lot worse.

First time it was a bigger deal, but I think it was more fear than anything. I did them twice per day. I came down the stairs in the morning when DH went to work, and went back up them in the evening to go to bed. My OB said to limit stairs, and I did.
The second time? Yah, no big deal at all. Much like everything @Mrs. Jump Rope said. The second time was just easier.

It was slow going, but not horrible. I did limit my stair use though.

I don't remember having much of an issue with my first C-section (we lived in a home with one bathroom and it was upstairs! ah!!). With my most recent C-section (my third), stairs were a huge issue. I remember pretty intense pain going upstairs to do my older kiddos' bath (don't ask why I was doing their bath that fresh off of a C-section, it was a rough recovery time). But, just go slow! You'll be fine. And, I did notice increase bleeding whenever I went up and down the stairs too much, so if that happens don't get worried.

Much like the other mamas have said, I didn't really have a problem with the stairs either. It was very slow-going in the beginning, but I think that was mainly due to fear I'd tear open my incision. I did receive a tip from a friend though, and she recommended going up the stairs backwards for the first few days...less stress on the abdominal muscles.
