I didn't get to push. I didn't make it past 4cm. What about you?

Nope made it to eight before he was in danger and we were rushed back.

I pushed, but I was 9.75 cm dilated, so I wasn't a perfect 10. My son was posterior, so there were a few complications. He got down into the birth canal, but didn't make it any farther.

Yes I pushed my DD out after 4.5 hrs of pushing. Finally got her out with a vaccuum assist. After all that, we lost DS's heartbeat trying to turn him once big sis was out and he was an emergency C-section.

@twodoghouse: wow. Sounds scary
I was in labour and pitocin for almost 30 hours (epidural about halfway through). Got to 6.5cm. Then blood pressure went up and got fever and was recommended c section (48 hours since water had broke as well). Never pushed.

With my first pregnancy, yes. I pushed for over an hour and was at a 10cm. With my other two pregnancies, they were scheduled C-sections, and I did not push I was not meant to have babies the vaginal way, I've had two OB/GYNs tell me about my "pronounced" pubic bone, and with my last baby he had TWO knots in his cord. TWO!!!

@aprild: same experience as you! I had a tiny lip and LO was posterior. I pushed and pushed and could see his head but he just wouldn't come out

It took 20 hours to go from 4-10cm, I pushed for an hour but my contractions slowed waayy down, so it really wasn't that much pushing.

Yes, actually made it to 10cm pretty quickly and pushed and pushed, but LO had come down crooked and wasn't budging

Nope - never pushed or felt labor. I had a scheduled c section because of baby's size and then a repeat c. I've never gone into labor.

@Danizaur: Same as you-never made it past 4 . That was after 30 hours of contractions. Ugh. My son's heart rate kept dropping, so I was in tears and begging my doc to "cut him out of me" because I was so scared! I also developed an in-uterine infection, and had a fever of 103.5. It was a long two days! I have HIGH hopes that a second delivery will be a much smoother experience!

I pushed for 3 hours before my c section. I was still pushing as they wheeled me in to the operating room bc I felt such a strong urge with each contraction. But his head was lodged in my pelvis.

My dear friend got to 10, and then had a cesarean. She recalled having to heal from a vaginal birth + a c-section, because she pushed for so long.
nectarine / 2031 posts
Nope.Water broke in labor for over 30 hours never made past 4 either developed a fever and possible infection thengot then got the c section

@twodoghouse: wow. You had to recover from a vaginal delivery AND a c section. Super mom.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
Nope. I almost made it to 10, but they said I had been in labor too long. If I had to have a c/s I'm glad I at least didn't have to push.

Nope, made it to 8cm and DSs heartbeat was erratic/dropping drastically and the cord was around his neck leading to an emergency c-section.
pomelo / 5073 posts
Scheduled csection because she was breech. Never pushed. I pushed with our first daughter and I was terrified I was going to have to do that again, but lo was breech so no worries. That was the main thing I was having anxiety about.

@californiadreams: @Rainbow Sprinkles: I think it sounds worse than it was. By the end I just wanted them out safely! And I was lucky that both my recoveries went really smoothly. I didn't have any tears or stitches from my vaginal birth and my incision healed really easily. However, my husband thinks I have amnesia about those early days, so who knows what it was really like!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
Yup. Pushed for a couple of hours without her moving one cm. I was so happy to get the c/s.
pomelo / 5791 posts
Nope, thank God. It was scheduled. My docs didn't want me to push at all.

I labored for a long time but never got to push. It ended up being really good with my son's size and his cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times, scary. I had a complication and tough recovery so I'm scared of another surgery and also scared of another endless labor.

Yes, 3 hours and then I got a fever and LO went into distress, it was decided she needed to come out via section. She was stuck and face up, I was told there was no way she was coming out on her own.

No, I only got to 4cm. I'm actually happy with the way it worked out. I was terrified of pushing, and my main goal was to avoid pushing for hours and then needing a c-section anyways.
persimmon / 1179 posts
Yep, laboured down for 1 hour and pushed for a other hour. LO was posterior with chin to shoulder so it was a no go.
nectarine / 2053 posts
Pushed for an hour but something about the shape of my pelvic bone wouldn't allow me to deliver vaginally
persimmon / 1472 posts
Yup! I labored and dilated to 10cm just fine but DD1 was posterior AND brow out so the largest part of her head was out. I pushed for 2.5-3 hours without much progress and even bled because my midwife tried to help me stretch to accommodate DD's position. The midwife then had the on-call OB come in to see if they could try the vacuum but he took one look and said baby is completely wedged.
