Pumping noob here.
I'm at work today and have 2 totally full and 1 half full bottle, I have 1 empty one. All of the milk is in the fridge.
Can I pump directly into the half full bottle of cold milk?
Or do I need to just do one side at a time into the one empty bottle?

You aren't supposed to (I would bring six bottles a day for three pumping sessions). But for one day you aren't going to ruin anything.

@CakeLady: @avivoca: Potential for bacteria growth. You're basically warming the refrigerated milk when you do that. That being said, I think the potential for enough bacteria growth to cause an issue with your LO is slim.

@lawbee11: That's good to know. I have been pumping into already refrigerated bottles and bags with no issues, but I might rethink that after today (since I only brought two bottles).

I used to pump into clean bottles and then add it to the cold ones in the fridge all the time. Never had a problem!

I do everyday! Put my 9:30 bottles in the fridge pump at 2:30 transfer it all to a bottle for daycare

@avivoca: If you're not filling your bottles the other thing you could do is combine the refrigerated milk from your first session before you pump the second time, so you'd just have to bring 3 bottles instead of 4. I used to pump into bottles for my first session then bags for my second session (there wasn't enough room in my cooler bag for 4 bottles).

I never did it but I used empty water bottles in a pinch for milk storage.

As others have said, you aren't really supposed to. I usually combine milk from previous sessions and pump into one clean and one empty but used bottle, and I also keep a pack of storage bags in my office just in case I have an occasional "overflow". If I were you, I'd pump one side at a time so the warm milk doesn't mix with cold, but I'm probably overly cautious.

I not sure what I'll do today, but I'll definitely keep a stash of storage bags at work for the future!

It's not recommended but I know tons of people who do with no issues.
I keep an extra 9 oz bottle in my pump bag for the occasional awesome pumping day I have every now and again!
